Words Below:
Among the thousands of people who had the misfortune of seeing the Junebug Talent Agency concert was Victor. He was a man in his late 20s who never expected to be singled out. From the moment he saw their advertisement he wanted to go. Cost did not matter. He wanted to be there.
Due to problems behind the scenes, the concert had a slight delay. This did little to stop his enthusiasm. Olivia may have been the backup singer, but her beautiful music and the subliminal messages that accompanied it were still enough to convince Victor to join. He felt compelled to do nothing more than obey.
The Junebug Talent Agency recruited dozens of people that day. It was nowhere near what they thought they would get with their original singer, but none of them expected things to go as planned all the time. They would have to make due with what they got. Mr. Hunter tested all the recent recruits to find out which one was most suited for the intended task. According to the results, it was Victor.
Victor was taken to a special room, strapped down by wires, and made to listen to hypnotic music. During the several hours he spent in that room, his body gradually transformed into a girl in her early teens. Victor became Victoria. If not for the hypnotic conditioning beforehand, this would have absolutely terrified her.
Next Victoria was taken to see Ms. Brenton. Through hypnosis she convinced Victoria that she was not even a human being. She was just a machine programmed to do her will and recruit more people for the Junebug Talent Agency. Ms. Brenton could change someone's age, gender, and a few other characteristics such as skin color, but she could not turn people into machines. However, she was quite good at hypnotizing people to think they were machines.
Being the one deemed most suited for the task, poor Victoria did not stand a chance. She had been thoroughly convince she was just a machine with no will of her own. By herself, she had no value. Only Ms. Brenton and the Junebug Talent Agency gave her value. She was their property. To prevent the previous mistake, Ms. Brenton made her Victor obeyed only her and no one else.
For Victoria, the machine who was not actually a machine the world around her blurred and changes. Messages constantly repeated in her mind. "Just a machine ... no free will. RELAX! OBEY!" As they did the last remaining fragments of free will floated away. All she could do was close her eyes and go to sleep.
