The year was 2147. Due to the reduction of the magical population in that area, Magic Academy was closing. The students were told ahead of time that their current year would be their last. It was their final day. Next year they would either have to go to a regular school or find a magic school elsewhere.

Once again John and Sam were given the appearance of people from that time. John was once again a first year boy. Sam had become a first year girl. It looked like they were the only first year students remaining. All the remaining students had been placed into one class and most of them looked much older than they were.

Looking at the various school papers they had with them, they could see that their names were John and Samantha. The woman in the front, who was clearly the teacher, went up to the blackboard and wrote their assignment on it. Despite having magic, Magic Academy was not above using computers. Over a century after their time the teacher was using neither magic nor computers. John and Samantha could not understand it.

The assignment on the board was to write about their plans for the future after Magic Academy closed. John and Samantha just stared at each other blankly. Neither of them had prepared for such a thing. It was time for them to leave.

John adjusted the amulet and Samantha made sure she was near him. The two of them returned to the present day. When they returned Jennifer and Samantha discovered that neither of them had their original bodies. They panicked. At first, they thought they were in the wrong time but all the signs showed them they returned less than a minute after they left.

When they asked a teacher for help, they discovered their change in gender happened to anyone who used the time travel device without permission. Jennifer and Samantha had to return the time travel amulet and apologize to the security guard. After that, they still had to do their report on the history of Magic Academy. This time they had to do it by reading at least one of several books found in the library. Changing them back would not even be considered until after the report was done.

Jennifer and Samantha had seen the rise and fall of Magic Academy. In the future, they knew the local magical population would be too small for the school to continue. They wondered how that happened and if such a thing could be prevented. Attempting to change the future would most likely result in them being punished further. Perhaps that was what happened to the local magical population but for the time being they had no way of finding out.
