Breakthrough! — Description
Bullies have two fears at opposite ends of the time spectrum. They want to be the oldest thing around. They do not want anything older than they are. They also do not want someone younger coming along and beating them. Successfully getting both is very unlikely.

Commander Jake Black led the Agents of Freedom in their battle against the Junebug Talent Agency. The battle had been going on for a long time with neither side getting a clear advantage over the other. Every time they managed to stop the Junebug Talent Agency at one location, they would just pop up somewhere else.

Despite their best efforts, many people had become clients of the Junebug Talent Agency. Some of them were rescued and a few managed to escape on their own. but an unknown number of others remained hidden. They would be tested and those most suited to their needs would be trained to hypnotize others. Their goal was to cause a chain reaction that would eventually allow them to take over the entire world.

Although the Agents of Freedom had thus far been able to prevent the worst of it, their attempts to stop it completely had failed. The Junebug Talent Agency had a mindwipe command in place. It did not work in the short term, but anyone who had been there long enough would lose their memory if they tried to leave the Junebug Talent Agency. This prevented them from revealing valuable information after they left.

The Agents of Freedom had a research team who were trying to find a way around this. One of their own, Agent Lee Gray, was able to get part of her memory back. It was more like a suppressed memory than an erased one. They just needed to find a way of breaking those mental locks and getting those memories back.

Commander Jake Black wondered if memories of the mental locks could be forgotten allowing the other memories to be free. He was not an expert on the subject but it seemed like it was worth a try. Later that same day, he received a message that one of their rescued long term clients remembered something.

No matter how hard one prepares for something, the complexities of the real world will lead to something completely unexpected. One of the clients they rescued was known only as Girl. Her original name was unknown so they named her Gina.

Gina had escaped on a previous occasion. The mindwipe activated. Her memories were lost and replaced with false ones. Because of this, she spent months living in the jungle learning how to do things on her own. Eventually she was recaptured.

However, the mindwipe had already been used on Gina. When used a second time, it was far less effective. Gina remembered most of what happened to her after being recaptured including the type of hypnosis techniques the Junebug Talent Agency used.

Jake knew this was only one of many techniques they used but it made the victims of this particular technique far more likely to be rescued. Another important discovery was that the mindwipe was far less effective the second time than it was the first. Agent Lee Gray had already been a victim of the mindwipe as well as many of the people they rescued.

Putting them in danger again was a great risk. Risking Lee would only be done under dire circumstances and risking people who were not members of the Agents of Freedom was completely unthinkable. Even so, this once again gave them the advantage. They just needed to use it wisely.

My name is Girl. The people here call me Gina. I used to live in the jungle. Then I was captured by a horrible group of people. They tried to civilize me, but their attempts failed. If that is what being civilized means I would much rather do without it.

Then I was rescued by another group who call themselves the Agents of Freedom. They tell me what I learned was only true for part of civilization. It is important to them that I learn some of these things on my own.

What they want in return is information about the first group and the horrible things they do. It sounds like a good trade. Most likely I would have told them this stuff anyway.
