DARTH MAUL VS RIDLEY (STAR WARS/METROID)
CONNECTIONS:
Maniacal, violent, ruthless sci-fi villains who at first worked for an all-powerful big bad trying to take over the universe (Mother Brain/Sheev Palpatine), but eventually ended up creating their own factions of Space Pirates, ravaging the galaxy for their own personal gain.
Both despise a rival of theirs (Samus Aran/Obi-Wan Kenobi) for constantly defeating them time and time again, rendering them in helpless states for long periods of time, leading them to devote their entire beings to causing them the most amount of physical and mental pain as possible, even to their last-last breath.
They also killed their most loved ones (Samus’ Parents/Qui-Gon Jinn and Duchess Satine) in front of them as they watched helplessly.
Both, in their series, were at first fully organic characters, but upon being destroyed by their aforementioned rival several times, kept coming back to what seemed like an insane amount of times purely to get their sweet revenge, through becoming half-cybernetic, to both an ancient nigh magical glowy corruption juice (Phazon/Nightsister Magic) mixed with half-cybernetics, to half-cybernetics alone again, and even as clones.
There is a non-zero chance that they will come back again later down the line considering their popularity, even despite their totally 100% for sure final canon deaths.
Both started out in their original roles almost never speaking, but later got more fleshing-out material that made them the characters they are, making them fan favorites.

Ok, long tangent but here it goes.
I love this MU, but I do really feel like it highlights how stubborn people can be about Star Wars and legends scaling because people always deduce the force users to just "laser swordsman with telepathy", when Mace Windu in the 2003 Clone Wars show ruins that point by just existing and doing all the crazy shit he did when he was in the spotlight. "Oh but it's not canon anymore!-" The force has still been shown to do crazy shit in canon, AND the DB team has used Legends before in Star Wars episodes so it wouldn't make a difference. "But the size differe!-" Vader is moving like this in canon. Fucking VADER who Maul even if he's older and less fast by the time of the Empire should still be able to outpace Vader in terms of raw speed.
So yeah I think half the complaints of this MU are just people being stubborn about Star Wars scaling, it's lore, it's events, and legends scaling in general and just not doing research on things they should be doing for a MU like this. Ignoring my little rant....yeah this MU is overhated and solid as hell, one of my favorite alts for both!
