Lightning and Spaceman Character Lineup — Description

Two students at Panoptes high school, find themselves developing powers. James and Damian must now navigate through life with two identities and balancing their lives. This would be easier said than done as a strange pill surfaces throughout Seattle turning prisoners and criminals into superpowered villains. Can they survive as heroes or will the pressure reveal itself to be too much?
James Thomas: James is someone who feels hollow from a tragedy. Carrying on suffering alone but out of guilt forces himself to hang with his friends. He is a caring, gentle, kind, but sad individual. Once known for his energetic, fun, and bubbly personality, after a loss occurred his life spiraled with only his close friends knowing the difference from his old self. He only truly feels like himself when he's running on the track after school, away from friends who worry, his drunk father, and the daily stresses of life. He is still a very popular person around Panoptes high which makes these moments more difficult to find.
Damian Dramon: The smartest student at Panoptes high, or at least he claims to be, someone who believes he deserves popularity and others looking up to him. But Damian, with his antisocial and crippling social anxiety, has found himself at the bottom of the social ladder. Even with no friends or impact on anyone at school he somehow managed to find a nemesis, someone tied for first place as the smartest student, Gilbert Goobort. Both their egos not letting the grudge go, but nobody notices their petty squabbles anyways. His true passion is science, understanding the limitless frontier of outer space, often relating to floating through cold and unfamiliar territory, like school.
Gilbert Goobort: While Damian suffers from social anxiety, Gilbert is blessed with a sever lack of social awareness. He gives everything his all and generally is over the top. He has disputes with Damian about science, skills, achievements and smarts, these arguments are ignored by the rest of the school, anyone who takes notice forgets in a day. Yet he wears these like a badge of honor, hailing himself to be the smartest kid at Panoptes High. He prefers biology to other branches of science and has a particular fascination with marine biology, the source of all life. Gilbert has a bad habit of sticking out for all the wrong reasons. If Damian is at the bottom of the social ladder, Gilbert is far beneath it.
Onyx Oswald: Onyx is that quiet person in the back of the classroom. She often has a sarcastic comment or snarky comeback whenever someone jokes about her goth fashion. She's very good at reading people, oftentimes messing with people by saying strange things to get a rise. She's the only person who's noticed the two hero's subtle use of their abilities to sneakily escape the school. She is easily annoyed, but despite that, underneath it all she does want friends, yet can't seem to make many lasting or significant relationships due to her snide comments.
Leana Holt: James best friend since childhood and the school “cool kid”, always having something nice to say to someone. While she is nice she is also very blunt and honest, sometimes to brutal effects. She is very loyal to her family who are away serving in the military and wont take any bad talk about her Grandfather Coach Hartman. While her family is all about the military she is someone “against the system” and is often getting in trouble with spray paint and her skateboard.
Edwin Kelper: Edwin is a jack of all trades traits in Panoptes high, a jock, art student, theater kid, and basically in any club he can get his hands on. He enjoys the challenge of balancing multiple things and spreading positivity to everyone he meets. He is one of the only students who gets involved with stopping bullies but with his positive nature, nobody will retaliate, as it is popularity suicidie in the highschool. Damian has a crush on him but doesn't know how to approach the most approachable person in the highschool.
Charlie Briggs: The Forward on the Panoptes High soccer team, and Damians bully, using his position to get away with pushing around Damian and Gilbert in broad daylight. He is all brawn and no brain, prefering to sit in the back of the classroom and make rude comments or terrible attempts at flirting. He has a little crew of his cronies, including Damian's brother Dylan who just happens to let Charlie know when he gets money from his grandparents. He is a major slacker, never doing his homework but knows all of the nerds and who is weak enough to force to doing it for him.
