History: It’s harsh to know your very existence is unwanted. Dima was born to a set of parents who wanted a great son – and found one with her twin. It didn’t help that Dismas wasn’t that bad – he was pretty quick to pick up on what they taught him. They had what they wanted – Dima was just along for the ride. From the start, she got the minimum. They provided her food, water, shelter, and basic education, but never went out of their way to do anything for her. She wasn’t as naturally gifted as her brother, didn’t quite share the same views and values as her parents. She got cheap second-hand possessions or hand-me-downs, assuming she got anything at all. She had to beg for anything substantial, working jobs and chores to gain any attention or favor from her parents. Because of the restraint of wasting money on her, she was denied tutoring, and only earned a chance at combat school after months of hard work. Once in school, she worked hard to get good grades, generally ignoring everyone in favor of achieving the best she could. There were instances that mentally set her back – Dima’s personality draws Grimm to her, bringing undue agro to the girl wherever the creatures can be found. Once, when they were starting out as warriors, she got in over head and had to be saved by Dismas. In some cases, however, she even surpassed her gifted brother. It was no cakewalk, but eventually she graduated with enough prestige and scholarships that she could enter in Beacon Academy and found her way onto Team RDDT.
Personality: Left in the shadow of her twin, she struggled tooth and nail to get where she stands. Nothing was given to her, and she’s not inclined to give anything in return. She keeps to herself, rarely showing any emotion – ignoring the world as Dismas remains ignorant of it. In the rare cases she does interact with others, it’s with cold indifference – not nice, not mean. Most would likely not even remember the encounter, it would seem so bland. The exception is her brother – at best she shows irritation, and seething beneath that is an envious volcano of hate. This is but one of two extremes she can swing between, however. When she doesn’t hate Dismas for everything he has, she hates herself for everything she lacks. No one seems to acknowledge her, for all her effort. She’s beaten herself down to the point that she thinks, at times, she may not even bother to exist. The cold kiss of her weapon has graced her body in such times of despair more often than she would like to admit – but it hasn’t bitten yet. This turmoil hides just behind her stoic persona, and one could but wonder what may become of it. This is only made worse by the time she’d been saved by Dismas – it proved her seeming inadequacy compared to Dismas’ seeming perfection on top of keeping her alive despite her more contrary desires.
Strength: Dima is very critical and meticulous in her thought and actions. She’s good at finding flaws – in a plan, an opponent’s (or ally’s) fighting style, etc. She’s subsequently great for exploiting these faults and crippling enemies.
Weakness: Her indifferent or depressive state leads to her not voicing the faults mentioned above – especially if she’s not asked to do so. This also means she doesn’t work too well in a group dynamic, despite her abilities. She also doesn’t do well in direct and melee combat, not being particularly mobile. This is even worse when paired with Grimm’s strong attraction to the girl.
Semblance: Dima is consumed by her faults just as Dismas is by his strengths. Like Dismas, her semblance reflects this. She debuffs a single opponent, spreading her toxic mindset and physical effects. It’s progressive, developing as she focuses on them – she often uses it without intending to outside of combat. Targets find themselves slowly losing the will to fight, their bodies becoming more and more lethargic and their mind consumed with a building dull ache (this is mental, not a headache). The effect fades without her input and doesn’t disappear immediately. The speed at which these progress and the measure of their magnitude is dependent upon Dima – the worse she feels the stronger and faster it develops. If she’s doing alright, the debuff is minor – if she’s inclined to point her gun at herself instead of the foe, the debuff is nearly immediate and extremely crippling.
WEAPON
Name: Woeful Downburst
Primary Form: Dima's weapon is her umbrella. The handle is silver, with a trigger near the end of the handle. A thick box like firing mechanism sits between the handle and the umbrella. Connected to this is a belt connected to a coffin shaped purse.
Secondary Form: When the umbrella is closed, the arms slide out and form the barrels of a chaingun that can fire ice dust pellets that freeze whatever she hits (yes, like the ice flower combo, no, that’s not what it’s based on). She barrels are segmented, rotating to wrap the fabric of the umbrella around the barrels. The belt feeds pellets from the purse.
Tertiary Form: There exists spring loaded lines within each barrel. They run to the runner along the central tube. An arrow shaped bolt is loaded into this tube, and pulling the runner back puts tension within the lines. A second trigger on the back of handle (by the box) releases the runner and fires the bolt. Spares are kept in the satchel on her right leg.
History: Dima designed and made the weapon with the help of their school’s engineering teachers. She’s quite proud of her work, making an accessory and weapon in one.
Style: Dima is undoubtedly more suited to support. She is very stationary, using the ice pellets to lock enemies into place. Her semblance similarly beats down more agile or powerful enemies that can avoid or break the ice. Once they’re inhibited or frozen in place by her ice, they are finished off. Teammates take this job if available, but the bolts are used otherwise. Various types produce different firepower and results – ice ones explode from within enemies, burn explode with fire to immolate foes, and shock bolts fry their brain and nervous system.
Trivia: Gothic Lolita is the basis for her visual style. Emocinis means affective - "of, caused by, or expressing emotion or feeling; emotional” for their semblances. Dima means “downpour, rainfall, rain cloud.” A downburst is a cold downward air current.
