Well, what can I really say?
has successfully made me a fond admirer of this crossover which I'll still admit is charmingly unlikely. The fanfic she's been working on (“Landlocked” [link] ) has encouraged my interests even further from my previous deviation of Ariel and Jim [link] . This deviation was in a way inspired by “Landlocked”, as well, seeing as the fic is the motor of my shipping these two. ~iesnoth set her story during The Little Mermaid movie, interjecting Jim into it so they could meet. So, while she hasn't gotten to the ending yet in her fic, I went ahead and did a little alternate ending scene I dreamed up on my own—the angsty goodbye scene. As fondly as I admire the crossover, I think I must fundamentally be a purist when it comes to Disney cannon, because I think that, even if Ariel had met and accidentally developed a crush on Jim during her story, ultimately she would end up with Eric. Therefore, I came up with this scene that would happen between them at the end of The Little Mermaid, after Ursula is defeated and right before Ariel goes to the rock she's sitting on when Triton turns her into a human again. She has to say goodbye to Jim.

I'm not quite sure where it originally came from exactly, but I believe that it all started when someone made a crossover music video of them on YouTube, and people latched on. How that person thought of it, I can't say.

I typically don't care for crossovers, but there's something alluring about this pairing that I just can't resist. I'm still on the fence as to I really support it or not, but I do like it.

Admittedly, I was like you and initially found it weird but interesting. Now I'm just having too much fun drawing them together, I don't mind that it doesn't make complete sense to me.

If I could draw them I would, but I'm afraid I'm not very good at drawing cartoons or anything real similar...maybe I could attempt them in my own style as a doodle or something, but I'd need a reference of them. Hmmm. And indeed it is.

No problem and I can't wait to see the next drawing of them! I would draw them myself, Ariel would turn out okay but I just can't draw guys for some strange reason....(they all end up looking girlish, lol).

Yeah-- it's just a bit too inconceivable for them, I guess. lol And it is a shame, isn't it? D: It was such a flop at the box office, too, but I think it was because Disney pumped out such awful stuff before it showed that people just didn't think to go see it. I know a whole lot more people would love it if they'd seen it.
