So you chose the water starter... you managed to convince it you were a friend rather than a foe for the most part. And despite its many attempts to elude you, you always managed to retrieve it from its hiding places. Maybe, just maybe, you noticed it beginning to come out of its shell... no longer fleeing, and instead willing to stand its ground! And after an impressive battle, it evolved at level 20!

But... now it has a literal shell. Made up of ice hardened from its own watery body, your starter now sports a protective shell that it can withdraw into to hide. It's always hiding with this one it seems, though at least now it's much harder to lose sight of when it just retreats in plain sight. And all things considered, your partner is much less skittish than it was before, hiding less frequently. Which is nice.

You notice your partner has taken intense interest with its new armor. Always polishing its shell and forming pretty swirling patterns in the ice before calling over attention from anyone and everyone to marvel at its handiwork. (You can't deny, it is pretty cool.) As useful as its shell is defensively, this Pokemon loathes having any scratch or nick ruining its surface. And so in battle, it much prefers to try dodging before withdrawing. Sometimes even to its own detriment.

It likes to place itself in impressive locations, oddly enough. Pretending to be a vase among other works in a museum or sitting right on top of a fountain. Your best guess is that they like to draw as much attention as possible to their shell. They can get pretty clever too, sometimes removing an important object that you might be searching for, and then sitting in its place. Waiting patiently for you to come look at them again.

Hopefully you can teach your partner to avoid using this trick in serious circumstances... because if it takes something very important at the wrong time, you could end up in a lot of trouble...

This Fakemon is based on cepholapods - specifically those with shells as well as bigfin squids! Just with much shorter and thicker arms, to emphasize the pooling water effect. Their whole body is actually meant to resemble water being poured out of a vase. And honestly I'm still in shock by how much I love this design concept as a whole, just fits together very neatly if that makes sense.

Also, I found this after I came up with the design, but look up 'octopus vase'. I just think it's neat. And it makes this design feel even more perfect. (My fan region is mostly based on the island of Crete too-)

Also, also; I actually had this drawing done since my last fakemon upload! But I had gotten hung up on writing the description for quite a while. Finally sat down and wrote it all, so now I can show off a bit more of my personal favorite fakemon starter line ^^

[Edit2: came up with the name Damphora (damp + amphora)! I've only edited the dex entry with it, as I feel like I'd rather rewrite the story description sometime, so I'm leaving it be for now]
