Description
Well, no one will accuse Beatrix of not being dedicated to her work. Poolside, at the resort, with her tablet, folder, and notebook still in hand, she's dedicated to making sure everything is going exactly as planned. She was the one who suggested a "no city clothing" ban during sunlight hours -- I'm not sure she took into account that she'd be here with us. Ever the professional, she is willingly following her own rules.Let's hear it for Beatrix!

Editor's note: I was running out of ideas for the "island" when it managed to find a way to merge this pool house with the island. If I can sort out the lighting (and not run out of patience), I'm hoping to have a few more images from a night time pool-side party. Let me know what you think, or if you're getting tired of "girls at the beach"!

Just to see the difference, I did one with different DOF settings. I liked the idea that the girls in the back were "not the focus", but you raised an interesting suggestion so I figured I'd take a stab at it.

I enjoy that one a lot better! As my personal preference, DOF is a big killer on big open scenes like this (however on close-up intimate shots it works very well). It just seems like such a waste to obscure all the lovely scenery back there. Being able to see it clearly makes it feel like she's in an actual living world.

I think I just like choices. No artist is going to tell me what part of a picture to look at!!! LOL!
I guess it comes down to what you are trying to do with the image. If your intention is to simulate a photo being taken, then of course the dof would be there. But if it's meant to simulate a person standing where the camera is, they would absolutely be looking at everything in the scene and not wondering why everything else around them is out of focus.

As for overall opinion about beach scenes, what is not to like/love????? Beautiful women in or sometimes out of skimpy swim suits/bikinis!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
