Description Something for the weekend XD

Practising again with anatomy and in this case the female body along with with the looks of the voluptuous Rouge. Still trying to really get a good hand at the shading and folds within the body to give it that sense of realism along with the pop needed. Happy with the end result though since it will improve much more as I draw and learn over the coming months.

Never been too sure which way to approach the girls within the sonic universe: realistic female anatomy or simplified illustrative anatomy where certain corners can be cut? Guess I'll figure it out as I go along.

Enjoi guys and girls.

P.S: The little number she's wearing is suppose to look like Latex. Yep, I know I suck at drawing it *frowns*.

Latex is good! You actually didn't do badly.

I hope you'll take a couple of pointers :3 I'm learning, too!

You really have the basic idea down. I see all of the right indications of how latex works, and I can tell exactly what it is, it's just not exaggerated enough. As it is, it looks a little more like leather (which is a firmer, slightly less shiny material) but it doesn't look bad at all!

Latex is almost like liquid in a solid form. A person (or furry!) wearing it looks like they've just been triple dipped in a vat of acrylic paint, so that all blemishes and wrinkles are smoothed over but other details remain. Depending on how thin it is, nipples might or might not show. Usually they don't in reality, but in fantasy and art, anything goes

I'm going to assume that the light source is a distant or dim spotlight coming from the viewer's direction. To make this look a little more like latex, You need brighter, more solid specular lights (not quite as soft and blended,) round on the round things (like the classic T&A!), and long on the cylindrical parts (limbs). I usually paint in the blending first, like you have, but then I would go from here and add an even brighter specular light -- an almost completely white round or linear, crisp mark that shows how shiny it is.

Shading around the edge works, but sometimes it helps to have just the slightest glow around the edge if there is any back light at all.

When you draw it, you want to draw in the folds ahead of time. It looks good when there are folds around the sleeve of the material (since anything that isn't full body latex will tend to slip and fold over time,) as well as folds around where things bend, highlighted and shaded accordingly. This also happens, of course, in areas that are bent or normally bent, as you indicated just above the elbow.

To complement that, you have the areas where it is pulled tightly. For instance, a very bent elbow means folds on the inner part, and a nice taught area of rounded material on the outside, the actual elbow, where a couple round spots of light are perfect.

Finally, anything that is pulled TOO tightly across something that is soft or creviced (lets say, boobies,) will create tension on the material in the middle and we'll see a rippling effect. That's similar to folds, but softer and much less dramatic. This doesn't really apply here except where the small strap in the middle connecting the bra cups might create that tension, and so there would be just the slightest indication on the inner sides. These are also shaded on the inner parts and highlighted (with streaks) on the outer parts. The same would be said for where her straps pull the material toward her neck -- there would be rippling from the stretching, but subtle and not far into the material, the bulk of it should still be round and smooth!

It's a little naughty to say, but I expect that latex may also highlight her vulva in the genital region.

I have some latex in my gallery. I'm still learning myself but you can look at it if you want to get a feel for what I'm talking about :3

I was/am planning on writing a tutorial on it at some point.

Thanks a bunch for the lengthy comment. I agree a great deal on what you say and it will certainly be a great help if i ever approach Latex any time in the future.

I have trouble deciding on body style myself. I can tell you they both use the same basic concepts in different proportions, but there are advantages in the 'SonStyle' body type if you can get the hang of it. Still working on it myself, I keep unintentionally going back to 1/5th proportions instead of the 1/3rd of Sonstyle.

Anyway, love the latex look. The lighter outlining lends a vibrant feel, I think.

Agreed, it certainly can be annoying at times, but that's all part of the process isn't it.

Oh my, Rouge is looking spiffy her body looks great, the way it's shaded and everything looks so realistic. Her clothing is very sexy and you can tell it's latex or leather...something tight in any sense. Good job!
