Inspace 0014 RL — Description
'Girl crush' has been moved to a secondary narrative thread, and this is more about the introduction, which feels better on balance. There are also some hints here on future story arcs.

And also Ardalla is an astute student of physics, given the speed of the ship is a little over a billion kilometers per second. That's why admirals are both sexy and highly educated. I am figuring some sort of warp or tunneling drive with shielding is the answer here, maybe, but the goal is to instill a sense of yes, this entire ship could be vaporized at any moment by the smallest of impacts. More danger, and antes upped.

I don't really want to dive into it too much because lots of scientific explanation is tedious, but I do owe the readers an answer...in time. Also, I find 'instant explanations' for every little thing or major plot point make the story less interesting.
