I'm trying to decide which side of the fence you're sitting on lol but that doesn't really matter so much. the piece was provocative as you intended. getting people to think nowadays is a gift.
enjoyed this a lot Cliff

I consider myself a lazy intelectual left wing revolutionary, but my real leftwing friends promised me that once the revolution comes, I'll be among the first up against the wall
Usually I just sit right on the fence then on either side

Very expressive. Gets me thinking. I can see it happening already. We don't need to make Iraquis embrace peace, they just need to embrace American ideas on capitalism...cuz who knows what would happen if they thought for themselves?!
Power to the Peephole!

Yes, good point! Ideas can kill much better than weapons. And it's hard to do away with ideas. Weapons can always be confiscated. Another thought-provoking piece of yours which I like.

I sense sarcasm (and I hope it's there or I sense I will feel like an idiot) and I do like it there. A very strong message, well executed. I like the simplicity of the piece which can carry an extremely strong message.

Yup, sarcasm was intented...
The problem is that if you don't know me or where this piece is coming from you could easily misinterpred it... I hope yll people who actually "think" understand the meaning of this
Cheers, Cliff.

Well it should at least make you think... The argument seems solid but is it actually a plausible alternative? I hope you know the answer to that
I guess the problem with this is that it can be misinterpreted pretty easily...
Cheers, Cliff.

I get the first message... but the bottom message is sort of vague... or maybe it doesn't make sence and I thought I'd throw in a pretty word... explination?

Hmmm... Explanation?
Well, the piece aims at disarming people, be it in Iraq, the middle east or anywhere else. If you take their guns and weapons they can't be a threat anymore, right? But then you realize it doesn't solve the problem, just look at the 12 year old kids throwing rocks at israeli tanks... and worse yet sometimes people with ideas come along and change the whole situation... Be it for better or worse, Osama Bin Laden, Ghandi, they all had rather radical ideas to fight their enemies... So anyway, if taking away their weapons doesn't do the trick, well then we'd better stop them from having ideas... just how far would you go?
Meant to be rather thought provoking...
Cheers, Cliff.

Aha... I see. It is very thought provoking when you explain it, maybe you should change what the picture itself said- it seems like a lot of people didn't get it.

I get the message that they shouldn't have ideas so we should shoot them .. don't like that message at all
Good style, bold presentation especially in black and white. Don't like guns at all, if your gonna kill someone have the decency to let them have a chance to defend themselves .. I prefer swords .. the ancient old wierd honour system. I'm wierd I know.

Ahh, swords and knives are so much better
Actually I am not advocating this idea at all, it was meant to be thought provoking, but I can just see a republican use this line of argument...
Cheers, Cliff.

i don't exactly get the point. so are you trying to say that we should let them have guns? sorry, i'm a slow person.

Pixelcoma In reply to jonefe [2004-04-20 06:37:30 +0000 UTC]
Well, I'm not actually trying to give an answer, just trying to get people to think...
Guns suck, disarming doesn't help, having only one world bully with guns doesn't help... So what to do? Well if disarming doesn't help, what's the next step? What are your alternatives?
Hope this helps
Cheers, Cliff.
