. Just goes from light to dark. This was what I had in mind all along, but finally got around to the full render and putting it all together.
Like the still, this is based on the work of and her Science Fact Friday: Green Fluorescent Protein entry:
Check it out if you haven't already!
This little bit of animation does bring out a problem I've been seeing Poser's later versions - secondary reflections bounce around. There is a mistake in the animation, the mirrors move suddenly a few inches about 1/3 of the way through, but that doesn't account for the odd bouncing of the secondary (innermost) reflections. I'm working up a quick test scene that I can send to Smith-Micro - assuming my simplified test reproduces the problem.

Except for the reflections bouncing around a bit as you noted above this looks very cool. I bet that it takes a long time to render! When I have something glow if I set up surrounding material to catch or reflect the light or use the IDL settings it looks great but really takes a long time to render.

Yeah - it took a while - the IDL really did slow things down - and of course the reflections too. I took the V4 figure out - replaced her with a stretched cube prop, turned off the IDL, left the lights one and rendered at 640x480 - to demonstrate the bouncing problem ... and it didn't happen. I was going to send that to SmithMicro. We'll see.
Thanks as always for the note!
