Backstory: Born in a litter with Eaglemask, Eaglemask was prophecized for great things almost immediately after birth, resulting in Buzzardear often being neglected.
He came to hate his brother, even if Eaglemask never understood why he hated him so much.

Buzzardear had one litter in which Oceanmoon, Kitepool and Talonstar were born. Talonstar was, much like Eaglemask, prophecized to become leader one day, which made Buzzardear project onto him and festered hatred for his own son.
Talonstar still listens to anything his father tells him, hoping that that'll make him gain Buzzardear's approval.
Kitepool and Oceanmoon used to do the same, but after Oceanpaw sustained an injury to his throat that turned him mute, they stopped listening to Buzzardear.
Eaglemask died shortly after giving birth to Shrikefrost and Piperlight, and Buzzardear took it upon himself to raise his nephews, swearing to himself he'd raise them better than his own sons.
Unfortunately for Buzzardear, once again the birth of the two brothers came with a prophecy- that one of them would save the clans, and the other try to destroy them.
Buzzardear treated both of them unkindly, once again unable to stop himself from projecting his own hatred of not being "chosen" by StarClan onto them.
His controlling nature died down a little when Piperlight and Shrikefrost became warriors, though he still very much doesn't treat them nicely.
