Description
Rebaked inventory sprites for 9 new sets of armor/units for the 40k mod of OpenXcom (ROSE submod). Sticking to the style of the original mod I've mostly added detail or kitbashed up the original sprites for this one to fit the others.
The first addition is a little more expensive (Frateris) militia armor/uniform, a replacement for just standard guardsmen hanging around. While the larger masses of Ecclessiarchal militiaΒ is usually some hodgepodge rabble, these guys have been kitted out with some standardized kit because they're hanging around Shrines and backing up the Sisters with ablative bodies in a fight or handling the rabble the Sisters don't feel like dealing with. The polished face of the militia, if you will.
Next up are the actual sisterhood armor kits. The idea here is to add both a "rookie" stage of armors (the Novice habit/Cantus training armor), if you know anything about X-COM its that you deal a lot with rookies. To contrast with the very black/red colour scheme of the Battle Sister armour, I went for a white and dark blue scheme. The Red and White armor is for the Medicae, a Novice/Entry tier of the Hospitaller armor/role.
The fourth armor is for the Pilots, 40k art does have a couple of "crew" armor for the Sisters, but nothing "light" that would fit in a standard cockpit - but I'm going out on a limb and guessing they have some sort of lighter pilot armor for craft that doesn't feature a massive power armor-sized cockpit seat (then again, this is 40k).
The next three proper armors are as follows:
- Elohim Power Armour, based on the redesigned modern sister models. A basic Armour, but an upgrade for veterans that have seen combat (your Mk6 to Mk7 situation if you will). It has slightly reinforced armour, a longer "skirt" and is slightly more ornate.
- Retributor Power Armour, like the Space Marine Devastator armour this is for Heavy Weapons teams. Better built in aiming optics and reinforced front armour at the cost of speed and agility. In artwork, Retributor sisters are often depicted as quite bulky (or at least they used to be), so I figured it could actually be a different set of armour.
- The Sister Superior Armour, the officer gets the slightly fancier armour, with more special features and armour to match. Very ornate. In game its unlock is limited by rank and ability, and is required for further promotion (to avoid having 20 Sister Superiors in in one platoon).
From the basics, the most crucial Sister feature was missing from the basic armor sprites: The White Bobcut! OldXcom (OG) got a system where it swaps out the head (and hair with it) for units depending on which face they rolled at start, so for this particular rendition I imagined the white sister hair is actually a whig and part of the uniform once they hit a certain rank.
Finally there's a Death Cult Assassin sprite, based on the 00ies Dark Heresy artwork. Very over the top.
