Yep, my contribution to the posthumans that are becoming kind of popular. This one is a bipedal carnivore that tackles prey and hooks onto them with their large thumb claws. Hopefully it doesn't look too similar to ones that have already been designed.For those not familiar with them, posthumans are the idea of future descendents of humans that have been genetically altered. Sometimes slightly, sometimes to the extreme. This is one of the tamer ideas believe it or not.

Well, it's nothing to be taken too seriously. It's just fun to tamper around with designs of genetically altered humans.
I will say, this one does remind me of Ren.

Yes, all vertebrates are sentient. They just have varying degrees of it.

No. Just animalistic instinct now. Their intelligence would probably be similar to that of prosimians.

Prosimians are sentient though. Sentience is simply the ability to feel and perceive the surrounding environment. All vertebrates have it.
Science fiction butchered the definition of sentience for far too long.

interesting idea. Is it a kind of "transhumanism"?
It could be linked with the concept of a new order..
It makes me thinking about the item of "lycanthropia" or "reptilian" concept too.
On the other side it could be a mankind changed into a "beast" population steered by stubborn oligarchs..
It could bring about a sort of uneasiness about the future too..

It's hard for me to describe the origins of a creature like this, but it was influenced by the work of C.M. Kosemen, particularly the book "All Tomorrows". I somewhat forget what happened exactly in the book and I could be mistaken, but I believe a sapient race of extraterrestrials basically came to earth, conquered it, and messed with human genetic makeup. So, I suppose your latter statement about mankind being changed into a "beast" would be the most logical explanation for this creature.

That's about it, the Qu (the alien race) felt threatened/offended by humanity's sapience and punished them by genetically altering them to suit their own ideal visions. To quote "All Tomorrows":
"The worlds of humanity, gardens of terraformed paradise, seemed strangely empty to the Qu. Often there were no raw materials available other than people, their cities and a few basic niches of ecology, populated by genetically modified animals and plants from Earth. This was because humans had erased the original alien ecologies in the first place.
Offended by another race trying to remake the universe, the Qu set forth to punish these "infidels" by using them as the building materials of their vision. While this led to a complete extinguishment of human sentience, it also saved the species by preserving its genetic heritage in a myriad of strange new forms.
Populated by ersatz humans, now in every guise from wild animals to pets to genetically modified tools, Qu reigned supreme for forty million years on the worlds of our galaxy. They erected kilometer-high monuments and changed the surfaces of entire worlds, apparently to whim.
One day, they departed as they had come. For theirs was a never-ending quest and they would not, could not stop until they had swept through the entire cosmos.
Behind them the Qu left a thousand worlds, each filled with bizarre creatures and ecologies that had once been men. Most of them perished right after their caretakers left, others lasted a little longer to succumb to long-term instabilities. On a precious few worlds, descendants of people actually managed to survive.
In them lay the fate of the species, now divided and differentiated beyond recognition."

I think the creepiest ones would be Nemo Ramjet's snake man, worm man, and those ones that are basically a living carpet of torture. Oh, and Juniorwoodchuck's plant and fish post human too!
