Numbers — Description

The galaxies Maffei 1, and Maffei 2 are both located in apparent proximity to the nebula Westerhout 5, you read.
And you find yourself, having truly to concentrate on what you just read.
One slip up, and you might get the impression that the nebula is big enough to encompass multiple galaxies.
An exercise in reading comprehension at its finest.
That being said, it is a nebula containing more than immediately meets the eye.
Westerhout 5 is also known as W5, Sharpless2-199, LBN 667, or Soul Nebula.
It is an emission nebula, located in Cassiopeia.
Collinder 33, and 34 can be found in its head, and IC 1848 (also known as Collinder 32) in its body.
Then there is the emission nebula IC1871, which is present just left of the top of its head, and Sh2 119 just below the lower back area.
All of this often goes by the cluster designation IC 1848.
Along with W3 and W4, it forms part of the larger W3/W4/W5 Complex.
And yeah those are a lot of codes.
Think of how many stars you can see in the sky.
(Granted if you live in a big city you might not see all that many. So picture all the stars in one of those photos. You know the ones.)
Would you be able to name every single one of them?
And remember all the names?
One thing is constellations, but what about the ones not included in those?
Then there are tons of stars you cannot see, but which are perfectly visible with a high grade telescope.
And so there you have it.
Numbers coming to the rescue.
