Description Formidron hive and designs are created by me

I decided to try the name "Formidrons" for these creatures, but if it doesn't seem to stick or I get a better suggestion/idea I might change it to that.

--More about the Hive--
The hive is evolved to force compatibility in all creatures and coexist as a conglomerate organism. It might even be most accurate to say that the actual hive organism is the TF goo itself, since it evolves to a higher organism when bonded to a host. It's most accurate to term the hive as a parasitic organism since it needs other organisms' bodies to fulfill its "life cycle."

A complete drone consists of a host body inside an exoskeleton, so normally hive drones have both endo- and exoskeletons. They also retain the original organs of hosts with modification to some extent so the new organism can function as any regular member of the hive. The exoskeleton itself is not removable, nor is it a separate creature "controlling" the host, as the host body and the drone/hive organism become one and the same through the bonding process of the goo changing the host DNA/mind/physiology.

The TF goo itself is not reversible. From the moment it contacts another creature it begins to integrate with their physiology and change their DNA, so their body will create more goo, and even from microscopic amounts the goo can then multiply exponentially (sort of a combination of a virus and a bacteria). The goo is also capable of rapid adaptation/evolution which would allow it to evade attempts at eradication. So while it might be possible to delay the inevitable, the transformation will eventually occur.

I want to use this same format to add some different morphs of hive creatures that perform different duties, like soldiers for example. The hive is likely going to be a collective consciousness with a "Queen" who is not the leader of the hive but rather an elite unit. The queen acts as a controller and strategist, sort of a centralized powerhouse for the hive mind. If taken out, the hive eventually produces a new queen, but will be temporarily crippled due to the psychic blow to the entire hive consciousness followed by disarray within the ranks due to the lack of a central telekinetic unit giving out orders over long distances.

If you have any thoughts on these ideas or maybe want to RP about it, feel free to comment!

So if it uses organs from the host, just modified, wouldn’t that mean it would be as exposed to any kind of Chemical weapon as any other creature (such as mustard gas or a deadly nerve agent)

Neato just curious, but also, how resilient are they to kinetic attack (Guns)

For the regular Drones; a little moreso than humans. The chitin armor helps absorb and dissipate some force of impact. Also, due to internal anatomy differentials/a varying level of redundancy from forming some of their own systems during assimilation, they can sustain more internal damage without catastrophic failure; so they stay up for a little longer as well.

Heavily-armored types of drones like the Soldier caste are mostly bulletproof though (would need very high momentum/high recoil guns).

A specialty 'light' drone (like the Scout caste) would be most susceptible to bullets due to thin frames and lack of hardened armor.

And ignoring any real-world boundaries, a powerful psychic drone like the Bishop would be able to reduce the momentum of bullets headed its way to render them harmless.

Ah, interesting awesome with high movement/high recoil guns, I assume you mean high caliber guns, because there are like 20 mm recoilless Guns, which pack a punch, but I get what you mean, like in order to take down a soldier you would need something like a 30 cal or 50 cal or 20mm gun. Oh very interesting I love to see creatures abilities and how strong they are against types of damage like guns, or hell lasers or plasma or explosive weapons. And as a Sidenote, with higher caliber guns (and shotguns) comes more ammunition versatility, like HE, White phosphorus, AP, APHE, tracer, buckshot and slugs, dragon’s breath, etc

Yeah, that's exactly what I was trying to say! Bore size isn't as important as the firepower itself, since soldier's armor is very tanky and they don't suffer much damage if it can't be punctured/blown through.

so the caliber, gun and the ammo used then huh? like an AP round from a 50 calΒ
