Description
there was this girl at the pool. we were neighbors.i mean ... we're still friends.
but she's not a neighbor, per se.
my daughter was 4.
my daughter met her.
my daughter spit water at her.
she'd come close and she'd hail the stream of water at the unsuspecting hottie.
go figure.
girls.
of any age.
they're as territorial as an alpha-dog.
ask cesar.
perhaps not.
he'd just say, "calm-assertive energy."
does that work with girls?
dunno.
but ... i thought this was funny because it reminded me of that day.

i think the lab messed them up...very poor contrast.
i'll see if i can do something with the contrast in photoshop.

lab scans are lab scans are lab scans...
not enough time to do it on my film scanner...
besides ... b/w negs are for fibre based prints!

that's what's interesting about "memorable photos."
i mean ... i may put more thought into them ... but "uncle joe's" photos are just as important to him ... as poorly composed or exposed as they may be ... as mine are to me!

i suppose you actually make a very true point there.
It's just that you seem to set the scene for the memory a whole lot better!

wow.. i love the capture.. timing is the key, i dont think this shot would be the same had the water already reached you.. trying out a new framing tecnique? black looks good..

cartier-bresson said something about the decisive moment...
when, in fact, it's the moment before the decisive moment, ya' know?
i don't think the photo would have succeeded if my foot were getting blasted ...
there's some tension to the photo with the water ... just so ...

I loved seeing this initially on the 'iguana, and checking it out now just reminds me of how beautifully confused I was with it at first. I was scrolling down, and thought she was leaning over the edge of something spitting down, then I saw the feet and remembered there really was no Spiderman (at least not in sandals)... and then it all clicked. And it was awesome all over again, for different reasons.
Of course, that's what happens when reading blogs well into the wee hours of any late night, I suppose...

"NO THIS ISN'T A FUCKING DIGITAL IMAGE; MADE WITH FILM BITCHES."
Film bitches... hmmm... didn't know there was such a thing.
Great shot (hers and yours)... she's got some accuracy going there. Ought to take her out playing paintball sometime... she'd probably love it.
The timing of the shot is dead on perfect... the "just before impact" gives the mind something to grip, that knowledge that you're going to get it, and there's nothing you can do about it.
Territorial, eh? I suppose it's better than simply accepting their world. At least they've got the courage to try and make changes. And maybe the neighbor hottie was makin the moves on her dad, so she figured she'd dampen her spirits... they're pretty perceptive that way, y'know?
*hands you a towel* I think getting a leg full of water was more than worth the shot. Good one, Chris.
