for the Purist.yes, it's been a while. yes, this little project actually took on a life of its own.
yes, it's a 160 page .pdf.

but ... in the end .. this document ... besides the forewards by some of my dA-friends ... it's me.

maybe you don't.
it was written with a certain audience in mind ... and the members of that audience know me...
so ...

It is really beautiful. And the contrast between the loving couple and the lonely person is great; it gives you the feeling of both sides and somehow you feel happy for the couple but sad for the other person. However, as the other person is reading, in a way, it gives you the feeling that he may not be alone because through reading he is in connection with others and therefore not alone. On the other hand, he does not seems to be desperate so he may be waiting for someone to come.
THe picture allows to give several interpretations and I think that's great!

It is very interesting. But less flaming and rambling about other people would have made this even more valuable and nicer to read. It formed a very unpleasant opinion of your character while reading, and I think if you put so much love in a project, you should try and focus on the content, and not the rage against other opinions.

Fantastic, although "Forward" should be "Foreword", and the typesetting could be improved as some of it falls beyond the margins at the right. Additionally, readability is improved when the text is justified in multiple columns (news-paper like).
Other than that, nice work!

Just a random opinion:
First, I'd like to immediately state that a) No, I have never used a range finder or even film but b) I definitely have a lot of respect for street photographers and for the formats you seem to almost be pushing.
Now, I have never done street photography in my life. I grew up in a small town, but I have recently moved to a large city and have been thinking about getting into street photography for a little while.
However, I only have a DSLR! I'm growing up in a time when digital cameras are the norm. They are wonderful tools and I don't see anything wrong with using one. Yes, people do notice them and yes, they are much different than what people have used in the past, but what is really wrong with that?
If I can get a spontaneous photograph of someone on the street with a DSLR, I should feel no shame in using it. AND when I get home and upload it to my computer, if I want to put it in black and white or if I want to take a U-turn and blast the saturation, that's what I'm going to do.
You're trying to defend the essence of street photography, but at the same time you're setting limits on photography as a whole. I can see how telling someone that he or she might as well use a rangefinder when doing street photography, because the camera does seem to be (I agree) made for it, but telling someone that they can't use a DSLR or ANY camera is - frankly - trend-whoring in my opinion.

i would love for you to use a leica or any rangefinder.
honestly, i have lots of friends in the film industry. my next door neighbor, in fact, is a grip.
what we're doing right now with the 5dm2 and lots of film industry gear ... is really amazing.
i totally agree about "the feeling" no matter what "medium" was used.
see .. we finally agreed on something, mate.
when i showed some of the other "film industry" people the stuff we've been doing with the 5dm2's ... they were blown-the-fuck-away.
and they're only used to film.
