A few weeks ago I was feeling kind of bummed. I decided I wanted to paint something bright and fun without spending a lot of time on the piece; it wasn't long before I realized one of my dad's many beautiful bird photos would make a perfect subject.

This isn't a speed paint per se, but I did make myself complete it faster than I usually would. And I made myself paint a background. I hate backgrounds. Which is why I need to paint them more.

It's not perfect, but it was a good exercise!
