This is a contact sheet of my entire 20-some sketches i did to find the perfect logo shape to start tracing into illustrator. Theyre all hand done paintings of Echinacea Flowers. I used a botanical illustration from a medicines book as my reference. Then I redrew it in extreme detail as possible and then coated it all in black plaaka. Then I copied my now black template on a xerox machine several times and used went into it with white plaaka and began reducing and stylizing each copied sketch. It took WEEKS xD but it was fun and it was worth it and it helped me better understand the true nature of the perfect curve when done by hand. It really helped me see alot more interest in the graphic design process than i ever had before. For those who know me well and those who dont, I am a lover of coexistance in all subject matters. Digital and traditional art; religion; music; the old and the new; the young and the old. That is the thing i look for personally in my work and others' work as well. If you can take two things and combine them so well that they almost become one and unable to live without one another, then you have trully achieved something to be prideful of. OK so enough of my lovey dovey shakesperian heartfelt emotional rant about art. XD I could go on for days, let me tell you

definitely, i am actually working on another tattoo design for a friend. her nickname's turtle, and i'm making an awesome turtle. Not done yet but i keep changing things and started with a similar process to this

try out this method! I really recommand it! You can use guache or plaaka. I recommand plakka though cause its least expensive. Its like $1.50 per bottle XD or $2.00 (50 ml bottle). Pelikan Plaka (its got a blue label)
