Description
ShowClass: Intermediate Dressage
Movement: Canter Circle
Horse: Bronwen ECS
Rider: Talen Frost
Third Place
"Easy big boy..." Talen soothed as he swung into the saddle. Beneath him, Bronwen snorted and skittered sideways, the stallion still having nervous issues in new places. Of course, having Orod around wasn't really helping either, but the elf couldn't help that. At least the big grey was in his stall, having already been warmed up and put back to be ready for his classes later in the day.
"It's going to be alright. I've already gotten some of the helpers to pull down the blinds in the arena. It's just you and me in the dark." He said gently, patting the stallion's neck as he shifted beneath him, ears flicking back and forth under the commotion. It was Talen's newest idea to help his stallion relax in a show environment. Obviously he couldn't request that the arena be made dark all the time, but it would be a good way to help the Nitrina stallion feel more comfortable in an environment he preferred. For now however, in the light and bustle about them, the elf have to satisfy himself with murmuring over and over as Bronwen flitted around the warmup ring, shaking beneath him when another horse got too close.
With visible relief, the brunet directed his mount towards the indoor arena as their number was called. One more step towards a more confident horse and hopefully one more step towards his career.
Done with Colour pencil on charcoal paper, just to see what would happen. Fixed up in photoshop so it didn't look so grey, but now it looks grainer than the original so I'm debating which is best. I'll stick with this one though, it gives more of the contrast I was going for.

Haha yes, yes he is. A little boy in a big boy body.

Congrats on placing! ♥ Scanners really do eat traditional art, it's hard to keep the quality intact. Lovely job though!

Thank you very much! Congratulations on yours as well!!
They totally do, and the camera I used didn't seem to do much better either. >< Guess I should have waited for a sunnier day, but only so much you can do right?

Thank you! ♥
Oh, you took it with a camera instead of a scanner? Sometimes you can play with the focus settings (if your camera has them) and get something to work but it's really hard to get good pics of art with a camera.

You're very welcome~
Yeah, the paper itself was 8 x 14 paper, too big to scan on my scanner. xD
It does, but it's not really my camera and I can't really play with the settings without potentially screwing it up on my father next time he takes it with him. xD It generally takes good pictures of paintings, but colour pencils seem to be tricky in and of themselves.

Ohhhhh yeah I see :'D Yeah, colored pencils tend to get washed out really easy. Prismacolor is bolder and shows up nicer post-scanning/on the computer but they're expensive and you can't even buy them where I live, they're only in specialty art shops. Crayola works nice but cameras and scanners usually eat it. :c Especially soft light drawings.

They do yes, that's what I used. The cheaper end of prismacolour, and a few Staedtler, but they were on sale so I splurged. xD Crayola is very washed out in comparison, but it's still nice.
That's surprising that you can't buy them where you are... I got mine at Zellers (before it was bought out) and my newest ones I bought at Staples, which is a giant stationary store. They sell the higher end ones at Michaels, but I don't travel that way often. xD

Well the only real store here is Wal-Mart. :'D And then Tractor Supply and two other small farm stores...then just grocery stores and McDonald's. *u* hahaha
