So remember how I said Ely nearly got Gyspar killed that one time?That was also when Maciart found himself in the extremely awkward role of comforting someone, namely a sobbing, hysterical blueblood who thinks she killed her best friend.
To this day he has no idea why or how he's Ely's moirail but he manages to make it work and periodically socks her one when she really needs it. Because, you know, true friends and all that.
