I rushed this piece out >_<"I was told pretty late about a submission to an artbook-like thing which is like a catalogue for people to find works they like to commission the artists involved. I only have 3 days during my FYP which I squeezed the time like mad to do. It was due on friday 3pm, I slacked for background and submitted at 230pm lol
Anyway. The inspiration for this came pretty fast. I am currently quite obsessed with mermaids again. Also, I do love working with a general color scheme like this. Its much faster and easier to work with.
Then I thought. People die and became ghost... I haven't seen any mermaid who are dead so far
So here she is

In reality, they really are ghosts, because we can never find or see them but they could be watching us from the distance.

The contrast here really brings out the beauty of the mermaid... and personally i have a liking for mermaids too... maybe its becoz i like to slack off drawing legs and draw a tail instead...

The lighting is just... wow... breathtaking~! I don't know if you rushed this piece, because it certainly doesn't look so~ ^^ It looks more like it was done in a traditional medium because of the 'roughness', but I like it~
You did an awesome job on the background too. The fact that you went over the piece with hard brush strokes gives the impression that rays of light are falling through the water. The spots of light are also a great complement.
