Description So I was asked to make a certain Sailor Moon brooch by a commissioner who would like to stay private.
I never had one of these brooches but I remembered them from the series quite well and I found many pictures but...how on earth do I make one. One that opens.
I had already declined taking that commission when I saw my compact make up. It's perfect. Not only the contents but the box! It has a mirror in it and make-up! I spend my evening yesterday and the whole day working on my box (which you see in the picture) to see if I can do it. I painted the design free hand which wasn't such a good idea in the end but for a first try, I'm super happy.
So I went and accepted the commission, bought a new make-up, fixed some flaws and send it. Without making pictures. But it's okay. It's only important that the right brooch is on it's way home.

I hope my make-up in there will last forever because I feel so much cooler using a Sailor-Moon-Compact-Make-Up-Brooch than just a regular make-up.
After seeing nothing else but this design, I'm really happy I were to keep one for myself.

You make me want to watch Sailor Moon! I've never seen it, but the compact looks so good!
I think that a makeup case like that would be so cool to use!!

Aw thank you!
Sailor Moon was one of my absolute favorite series as a child and teenager. I would love to rewatch the series but it has 200 episodes. If you ever watch it, I would love to hear what you think about it.

Maybe I'll have to watch it soon! With so many fans, I think it has to be a good show!

And I should get up at the attic to sort through the rest of my Sailor Moon magazines I bought as a child. I have the audio books, manga and figures and such down here in my apartment, but I need to look through the other stuff. I really bought everything there was of that series as a child (mostly magazines). My one and only hobby.

That's so cool that you have so much! I did the same thing with Power Rangers. My brother and I have sooo many
of the toys, costumes, and accesories. Also with Pokemon...I even have some pokemon shaped erasers!

I saw Power Rangers as a child too. It was such a cool series! But we had no merchandise here, at least I didn't saw any.
I just found some Pokémon sticker (but I'm sure I have more...somewhere ) and I'm just going to put them in your box.

We used to play with Max Steel toys, Power Rangers, and Transformers.
I had three or four red rangers, because it was when I was so young
that I would accidentally break one of their legs, by bending it too far.
We had many retired rangers who had broken legs because Mom would
always glue their legs back on, but they wouldn't be able to move their legs.

Your sending my pokemon stickers!! It's so exciting.
It's kind of funny! I'm sending you some stickers, too.

Oh I so know that. T_T When I was young there were very cheap and small plastic dolls. But their limbs were only loosely attached
so that they would easily fall of and the tiny rod that was holding them in place got lost quickly. I found those dolls some time ago. Three complete dolls and...3 extra heads, 3 arms and 2 legs...

I wish I could find the rest of the stickers soon! I had so many! Need to go to the attic again and look for them.
Wahhh you're sending stickers too? Yay!

SJFan97 In reply to Yuki87 [2014-08-26 14:42:39 +0000 UTC]

extra parts? I wonder what you would do with those.
maybe you could make a crocheted body and make a big dress
to hold it up...or you could do whatever with them.

I'm so excited to see some pokemon stickers!! My mother used to
have a sticker collection when she was young. She gave it to me,
and it's so cool to look at all of the different stickers. She even had
some that were pickle scented! Yuck!

I'm sending some banana, chocolate, coca-cola, and bubblegum
scented ones! The bubblegum smells so good!

Yeah...that means the rest of the dolls must have been thrown away and only some leftover arms and legs have survived. It could get interesting to crochet the missing rest. But I would need extremely thin yarn and wire. But the idea is interesting. Simply because I would have another doll that way to put the pretty dresses on.

Talking about stickers, I found something similar just yesterday for you that is soooo typical German, I thought you might like to see it. It's called glossy prints.  Like sticker without glue but with pretty vintage motives. Why vintage? Simply because they never changed it since they came on the market here in 1948.

Ohhh that sounds so yummy! Thank you so much in advance!

I don't remember what it's called (maybe it doesn't have a name)
but I was thinking something like this www.deviantart.com/art/Fibre-C…

How cool! It sounds like something I would love to have!
Thank you so much!

Aw thanks a lot for the link! That is very inspiring! You make me forget about finishing mommy's St. Nicholas gift (a crocheted Christmas Tree) early.

Yay, I'm glad you might like the 'stickers' If you need more of them, or even with glitter, they have them in a store in town here that's nearly as old. I like to go there since they never ever change anything.

I couldn't find anymore pictures, but there are so many pretty dresses like that. If you do decide
to make a big dress, I would love to see it!!

Yup I would like something similar but money. and I don't know when you hold commissions and it would be a normal brooch D: lol

Yuki87 In reply to Luffy0001 [2014-08-06 14:02:12 +0000 UTC]

Aw, I'm happy that you like it so much!
I'm always available for commissions and even though this is not my normal kind of art, I wouldn't mind a remake. But I'm not sure if I'm able to make a normal brooch since I wouldn't know what to use for it instead of this ideal shaped make-up box. T^T
If you have any ideas, let me know!

Well, you know the brooches they wear in the middle of the bow? It's just a circle so idk. Either thing works. I will check out what you normally do though. lol

Yuki87 In reply to Luffy0001 [2014-08-07 15:19:30 +0000 UTC]

Ah yes, I know. Maybe I can find some small creme containers in that shape to paint. Otherwise I would need to buy some air dry clay to form the shape.

Luffy0001 In reply to Yuki87 [2014-08-07 15:27:36 +0000 UTC]

Hmmm... either way. I just looked up some of them, it's either a circle or a heart. If you look up Sailor Mars Brooch or Sailor Uranus or any others.

Ah, you mean the 'simple' brooches, not those detailed ones from Sailor Moon but from the others?

Luffy0001 In reply to Yuki87 [2014-08-09 05:07:47 +0000 UTC]

That's what I was saying... yes, Maybe put the planet symbol in the middle though. How much would it cost anyway?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Yuki87 In reply to Luffy0001 [2014-08-14 13:56:50 +0000 UTC]

That depends on the size and how much the clay would cost and if I can find a mold for the heart shaped brooches. The normal round ones would probably be 5€ I guess.

Luffy0001 In reply to Yuki87 [2014-08-14 20:04:12 +0000 UTC]

Ah okay then. The normal circle ones would sort of sparkle with like glitter lol *shrugs* D:

We learned it in school starting 5th grade but I never was any good at English or France. In my A-Levels I started learning on my own and got pretty good in school terms. But I'm not sure if my English is really so good ^^ Probably not as I still have trouble listening and understanding it at once.
Yes, German sounds a lot different, not better, rather worse ^^
