I use Windows XP, but sometimes I like a change in scenery.I use a program called RocketDock to organize my shortcuts, and Styler to change the appearance of my taskbar and windows. I can even make it look like Windows Vista if I wanted!
All it takes is patience and lots and lots of customization.
