Description
Leering down at TK with a grin that could have curdled milk, the kidnapper jabbed the bat back toward the corner where the stocks had imprisoned the plucky young heroine, and crooned, "Now, why don't you go back to your place like a good little pet...I don't want to have to hurt you....truly I don't..." He wiggled the bat meaningfully, and stared her straight in the eyes reproachfully, as if she had no recourse but to obey.TK's only reply to his smug, smirking demand was both instantaneous and very heartfelt: She summoned up all the strength she could into her over-worked legs and launched into a springing, full-bodied kick to the gut - punctuated by a vicious growl - that doubled him over, knocked the breath from him with a huge, huffing wheeze...and threw him back to crumple to the floor. The bat leapt from his hand and bounced across the floor with a hollow, unmistakable clatter, to roll out of sight and reach beneath some crates halfway down the length of the cellar. The villain groaned windily once, twitched to rise...and then fell still.
However, the attack felled TK as well, her rubbery legs unable to arrest her forward stagger or stop her crumpling journey floorward in the aftermath of the sudden and powerful exertion. She landed hard on her knees and then rolled to her back - a back that let out a sharp, aching jolt as she landed, gasping for a moment with the pain of it all. For a few long moments, she just lay there, rocking a bit and blinking at the ceiling, as she tried to regather the strength to rise again. The incident had driven the point home to her of just how tired and wracked she was from the breaking of those stocks and the interminable struggle that came before. But, she drew some satisfaction and cold comfort from the fact that it looked like her captor was down for the count. Still, she knew that situation could change at any time, and though he was still laying motionless at the bottom of the stairs, TK was determined not to be there when he finally did regain his senses.
So, rolling over to her stomach and lunging upward several times before she lurched to her knees, the weary tiger-heroine forced herself back to her feet and stumbled toward the stairs once more, sparing her downed kidnapper a furnace-hot, snarling glare...
