Description Please tell me I got the jacket colour right!
Anyway, apart from that, Ratbeard was pretty fun to draw. Especially his beard   Hehe.
I really adore how his outfit turned out, anatomy was easy, although...that nose...Rat, what is it with your crooked nose?!

I didn't want to do any cool poses on him, because...well, he's an old rat with an eye-patch and a peg-leg. Not much to work with when you think of reality.
So yeah. The Rat Captain. Ready for commands ( But he can still give a good yell of the word ''WHAT'' when it comes to the captain's crazy decisions and all that  ).

New headcannon:

Ratbeard has highly sensitive ears and generally wears human hats (with no ear holes) to lower down sounds, he let his ears out this once for this picture, and that's why he has his head down-ish

You have no idea what it took to get those ears out. The mate's pretty stubborn when it comes to them.

So, what did it take?

Well...I'll spare you the details, but it ended in me promising to let him plan the firework show next New Year's eve.
Considering how the LAST one went, it was a pretty tough choice.

I actually did do a rough sketch of him following the guidelines in my book, but it's still rough... not sure if I'll put it up under scraps or something

Well, from what I learned following guidelines, is that you never have to make it identical as it shows...Actually, sometimes it just wont work.
My point is is that you should improvise, keep it like the character you're drawing, but at difficult situations, add your own!
That's at least the way I did with Rat. What I'm saying is, don't depend too much on books. Helps, but not always.

Heh, I noticed I tend to be a by-the-book person in terms of information I did tweak it, though, so as to make it work. My drawn guidelines are much looser and sketchier than in any book, since they're always done 100% by hand-eye coordination, so it's tricky learning drawing from a book at times.

I'm trying it by the book's style first, since anthros are hard, and when I've gotten a bit better at it, I'll be changing parts of it to suit my style. I've been doing that to Bonnie and Rat I can't exactly learn to draw something so new and so different ovenight, so I'll have to be satisfied with practicing the concept. it's like school, only more fun

Yeeaahh...Only difference is that when it's a regular school your parents encourage you more than when you go to your '' Imaginary school''.
Pfff...if only they knew
