Description DISCLAIMER: Originally I wanted to keep this entire thing away from public eyes, as I wasn't even sure I was going to finish it.  In all honesty, I still don't know that I'll finish it, as it seems I'm very on/off with working on it.  But the tiny bits of progress I have made I'm rather proud of.  You see I have only a basic educational training in animation, the rest I've picked up through trial and error, as well as studying other artists/animations.

That said, these teaser snippets are NOT complete!  They are in their rough stages, and I am well aware that there are flaws some of the fluidity/look etc.  I'm currently trying to map out this animation in segments, testing the timing/overall fluidity of the animation before I flush out the details.

All frames are hand drawn in Paint.net with the line/curve tool, exported layer by layer to GIMP, and saved .gif

So, here we are.  The first teaser regarding my animation project.  May or may not post more, certainly no dead give-aways to the plot of my story.  Its not much, but I did work very hard on it and it took a lot of time to get where it currently is.

Ahhhhh LOVE LOVE LOVE The wiggling Pidgey brings to mind the bouncing sprite animations from the first games. Crossroads stories always lead to wonderful things.

cool beans, I like it. You should at least try flat shading it and seeing how it looks. How many frames is this one?

Flat shading, or coloring?

coloring the entire project will be...very time consuming.  Shading on top of that, though?

This particular scene is 54 frames.  The entire animation project I'm trying to make last about 2:45 minutes.

Oh I'd just flat color it first. 54 frames ain't bad, had few like that back in the day. I usual stayed to a low frame count lol.

Lol yeah that's gonna take some time there. But some things will be the same frame to frame so you can copy them. With this opening it would be best to draw and color whole landscape then scroll cut each frame from the original oversized image..

I could copy it, except that to get this to work right, there are no images that are layered above the background, or each other per frame.  The background is on EVERY frame, and the images that overlap the background move, so my colors would run into each other.

yeah it would work best if you re-did it with this process in mind.

Problem is I can't.  Gimp is a fickle program for doing animated gifs. I can replace entire frames, or I can combine entire frames.  I've not been able to figure out how to lock one frame, and replace all the other frames above it, or lock one frame for a moment and replace it later etc.

Yeah she is a fickle beast but I still like her. Ever try kritia? I've not messed with it much. Not sure it animates.

No, nor Sai, Anime studio, or every other recommended free program out there.  I have Gimp and Paint.net, and they work well enough for me for now.  Also don't think my computer could handle bigger programs...

yeah mine is under powered too, hopefully I'll be able to remedy that soon. Ever use the online thingie DA has? I tried but my browser is hosed and needs something to work it.

Muro?  That's just confusing as heck.  Gimp seems much more capable.  That, and many of the good features need a Prem to use them

Definitely plan to put gimp on my new lap top. Hope to use Krita more too as well.
