I think I understand the Michelangelo nude association. Your sketch evoked the same reaction in me even before I noticed you mentioned it.
His reclining nude sculpted figures have one interesting detail. Michelangelo's females are essentially young male bodies complete with the Adam's apple under the chin, with a pair of breasts tossed in for appearance's sake. Though it's my personal opinion and has nothing to do with your sketch.
The serenity in her face might have something to do with it, too.

As comes to commentary, I am too honest for my own good. Out of the renaissance masters I still prefer Leonardo. Michelangelo's work just doesn't have the magic. But they were after all each other's rivals and daVinci did criticise Michelangelo's grasp of anatomy, if my memory serves me.
I guess the biggest difference is that in Michelangelo's paintings the model's muscles are all contracted, while daVinci realised that muscles work in pairs, and only one in a pair works (contracts) visibly at any one time...
Sorry, I don't mean to start a lesson in the history of anatomy in art...

I have a strong background in art history and classical art, including anatomy studies, both artistic and medical.
I basically remember everything I see and read and hear, and I've loved to read art history. Weirdly enough, I didn't qualify for studies in art history, so I ended up serving a couple of years in the FDF and then moving on to engineering.
It's fun to have an artistic community to communicate with. Especially if they seem as nice as you do. You're one of the few on my watch list who even seem to appreciate my comments and reply to them...

You're the first who's said that.
I often +fav digital art, but since that isn't my preferred media, and I'm better at the traditional forms of art, my commentary there is really, really vague and regresses to "teen speak".
Your work I can comment, since I have enough knowledge of the media to be able to appreciate the work that goes into it.
And it's fun to find someone who understands why I don't like Michelangelo's portrayal of women. Most people only remember the ceiling in the Chapel of Sixtus (I may very well have gotten that wrong, since English is my third language) in the Vatican, not the rest of his work. His sculptures are fine work, it's just that his grasp of the female anatomy makes me cringe.
