FINALLY, IT'S DONE!Fan artwork of characters from Touhou 10 ~ Mountain of Faith
Overall, this is a great piece. However, I feel like it lacks the greatness of my older works. It's good to try one-layer drawings but with little experience with the style, I just feel that this is in no way special. But I like how everything comes together in the piece. Especially Kanako, who's sitting comfortably in the background.
Overall, this is a fun piece to work on. However, it's also a difficult piece to color. Since there aren't many one-layer artists who do tutorials, I had to learn the style by eye and hand, by analyzing the works of *Shinigamiwyvern .
Anyway, what do you think of this piece? Let me know by posting a comment down below. I'd love to hear constructive critiques regarding this piece and the style that I used for this.

P.S. To #Improvement-Club correctors, I'd love to see some corrections regarding the background.

As I said before, I'm not entirely sure about using tutorials - I really want to see how you develop your own art style instead of adopting someone else's. Of course, if that's how you do things, then that's fine - as long as you stay epic
I was expecting an amazing piece of art when I saw the WIP and I'm not disappointed at all. You really did all this with just one layer? Stunning if that's true...
The highlight of the piece is definitely Sanae's hair, the shading and lighting are perfect and the way it flows is great too.
I can see many untidy white lines in the water, though - even if they look good nearer to a person, they don't look too good randomly placed. That's really the only slightly out of place part of the whole thing.
Other than that, well done, keep it up

I think it might be better for you to start off with some simpler pictures if you're not familiar with the techniques, especially when you don't seem to know that much about volume, contrasts, colors or even light and darkness in an image. However, I do think it's great that you're trying, most people avoid making complicated backgrounds and/or even full-body pictures!
The lines in the coloring is what stands out as the weakest point here, I think you should practice making more fluent and smooth lines. For example the ones on the hands and face of this green-haired person in the foreground look very hairy and strange and even destroys the overall shape of these parts. Maybe you need to change the tablet settings a little so you can make longer lines without it starting to look dotty? Your other artwork don't have this problem because the lines have been thinner and a lighter color. When they're more prominent, work harder with them to make them look as smooth and good as possible.
I also would suggest that you take a look at some tutorials on color theory and reflected light to be able to put your pictures together a bit better

It's always very hard to work on one-layer drawings.

I do agree. It's extremely hard to correct any slip-ups. Sometimes, it would involve recoloring an entire section of the piece to cover up a small mistake.

Ahh, the color version turned out quite nicely.
Everyone really seems like they are enjoying themselves in their own way in this piece. It really comes through in the artwork. I especially like Sanae's pose and how Suwako is having fun with the frog.

I wonder if Kanako noticed that she's part of the photo...
