Many areas of Baltimore have numerous shuttered businesses. The general lack of grocery stores has created "food deserts" - areas where the local residents can't obtain nutritious food, often limited to the high-fat, high-sodium over-priced 'options' sold in shady corner stores and dollar chains. Stunningly dramatic image-- the forbidding sky against the shadowed foreground--the muted colors are all perfect for this "commentary" image. My only reservation would have been to tilt up a bit and get the entire circle of the sign--even with that, this is an image with a message.

Thanks. I agree with your assessment of the composition. In retrospect I wish it were a wider shot. But I was losing the light and wanted to get the context of the young people walking by with the police car in frame. It was a quick shot that in many ways worked better than I expected.
