I think that's the bridge I took everyday to get to school, too, on the subway/streetcar. I got to see the Dom everyday.....it was the best commute I've ever had!

The Dom is just so incredibly majestic. The first time I saw it it seemed magical, almost unreal. I SO need to go back.

Me, too. While there, my class and I even had the privilege of having a tour of the attic/ceiling of the Dom. That was fantastic!! It is an incredible piece of architecture. I want to take my husband to Cologne one day and visit all the wonderful places there.

I went up to the top of the south bell tower in the Dom (all 500+ steps), and it was a great experience. The view was wonderful (but unfortunately, quite overcast so I didn't get any good photos). The bells were amazing! I have some photos of them, perhaps I'll post one.
What I loved most about Koln was the mix of history with contemporary culture. The shopping district was fantastic, and I had the best ice cream ever in Koln. Good times.

I've done that climb, too. It is amazing!! It was pretty gross the day we did the attic tour, but it was worth it.
I agree....the shopping, culture, and food are the best! I had the best ice cream at an Italian ice cream parlor/restaurant right on the bank of the Rhine....it was AMAZING!
