Description
This is a fine film indeed. Only overshadowed by later-day predecessors [such as Havoc, Havoc 2 and Alpha Dog] ‘Firefox’ is an awesome dedication to those so-labeled unique individuals who desire to burn brighter in life than the typical ‘everyday life’ currently fairly prominent in the U.S.A.The character line-up is diverse, and the ‘romantic love story’ is told with grand suave and precision [I particularly had a great deal of respect and affinity for ‘The Geeky Girl’ and ‘The School Slut.’ Both cool characters and spitting images of some of my ‘characters of personal thought’ as well as much-as-those-whom-I-have-met-upon the plane you and I may refer to as ‘Life’ and/or ‘Existence on the earth plane.’]
I was astounded and far-from-appalled to find that although there was nudity and a great deal of romance and ‘platonic passionate purpose’ [e.g. a ‘reason to live to love and love to live’ so to speak…]—but no ‘sex scenes’ [although certainly alluded to. Molestation at school. One well dramatized-and-broken-up-would-be-rape-scene. The ‘going theme’ thereafter—a female-homosexually-driven-desirable-physical-relationship which seemed to ‘stifle-bloom.’ ‘Happen-but-not-happen.’]
The music selection was grand and the tales tailoring each character reveals indeed a ‘diverse sphere of humanity.’ Near the end, where the ‘tension’ builds up towards the ‘gun-scene’ that viewers most likely will have a feeling ‘it is just going to happen’ but upfront—is unknowing of ‘how’ exactly how ‘it is just going to happen…’ I burst out laughing when ‘dad’ got shot! XD Beforehand, I exclaimed ‘WHOA!’
Not having a clue of what was going to happen.
Indeed, this ‘dark comedic belief—or at least so I desire to perceive it as such—was very, very well done.
Indeed. It is strange… sometimes very strange… that sometimes for one to change one must first be hurt. I did not find it hard to believe that ‘abusive dad’ changed to ‘more understanding dad’ after his ‘near-death’ experience and seeing a caring ‘all-female-family’ exuding purpose and reason—charged with true-desire-for-the-good-of-the-relationship-and-friendship… a thing he in his darkest-of-hearts—at the given time—was incapable of doing.
Sincerely, I do believe at this point it was very well stated that, “I’m her father!” Because truly—up until that point I was under the impression that Goldie’s ‘Father’ was a ‘Step-Dad’ or ‘Father-Figure.’ Kudos for clearing this up everyone! ^_^ I am very glad that I viewed this film! ^~* And I am well aware of the ‘behind the scenes tale’ and shall admit—that while reading Angelina Jolie’s ‘description definition’ as per Wikipedia.org now-what…
three years ago?
I took an interest to the mentioning of this some-may-dub ‘feminist-flick.’ [I think it’s a ‘portrait’ of what we consider to be ‘humanity’ in my most humble of opinions. It certainly does have a ‘very real feel to it’ like Havoc 1 or 2 or Little Miss Sunshine.
I forever respect the excellent development and portrayal of these characters—and very much so… am pleased to make-way and a groove in my heart for the excellent memories this film has so now gracefully cherished it with.
