Byleth: Grrrr, WHY ARE YOU MAKING ME DO THIS!? You joined forces with the psychos, who kidnapped Flayn and murdered my father, in order to take down the authority that maintained peace in Fodlan for centuries, THINK EDELGARD!!! You declared WAR on the Church, because you blame them for this "Crest System", that wasn't ENTIRELY their fault. You could have tried to change the system in a more peaceful manner, instead of starting this whole damn war. THE PEOPLE OF FODLAN ARE KILLING EACHOTHER, BECAUSE OF YOU, VON HRESVELG!!! NOT THE CHURCH!!! NOT RHEA!!! YOU!!!

Byleth: WHAT DO YOU HOPE TO GAIN FROM ALL THIS!!!?

No offense to Edelgard fans out there, but this was just too good an opportunity to pass. I don't hate Edelgard, but at the same time, I cannot get behind the fact that she started a war in order to push her ideals. And unlike Rhea, who's worst moments are exclusively in the Crimson Flower route and tries to atone for her mistakes in Silver Snow, Edelgard starts the war in all routes and never suffers repercussions in her route. Byleth siding with her in Crimson Flower honestly doesn't excuse that for me. Also if I were Byleth, I would be both angry and hurt to learn my own student was working with the people who murdered my father and kidnapped Flayn. So if I were given the choice between siding with Edelgard or Rhea, I'd choose Rhea in a heartbeat. Personally, I like Edelgard better as an antagonist or a rival to Byleth instead of a love interest, which honestly feels very underwhelming to me, especially since I have this liking for female rival characters to male protagonists.
