Lich — Description
Another entry into the lore of The Outer Darkness! Yay.

The lich is an undead sorcerer, usually created via a complicated ritual suicide. The undead state is the price these individuals pay for immortality.

Unlike zombies, liches retain all of their intelligence after death, and their magical powers are nearly doubled. They are incredibly hard to kill, and some of them even find ways to store their souls outside of the body, so physical destruction is not always a guarantee of the lich's death.

However, in exchange for their power and immortality, liches pay a heavy price. For one thing, they have almost no physical strength or dexterity to speak of, though these abilities can be temporarily enhanced through magic. For another, they lack all sensations that humans experience. They cannot see, hear, or even feel the world around them, and are forced to rely on a sixth sense, often referred to as "shadowvision." Again, this limitation can be temporarily overcome using magical spells, but only for one sense at a time, and for a couple of hours maximum.

Contrary to popular belief, most liches are not malevolent, and are much more interested in being left alone than in world domination. The majority of them are scholars or teachers of magic.
