You know, something like this could be workable in real life (on a logical smaller scale, of course).
I understand of the idea of Artificial Gravity by making it an artificial structure spin, and whatever is inside will stick to the inner wall (like Babylon 5 does).

They should've went with Probert's idea of external docking attachments for larger starships to connect to.

The big Starbase is the TMP era one, the Polaris is the one "out of era". She never gets refitted, so by the time the big mushroom is over Earth, the little Pallada looks almost the same as she looked the day she left the construction facility.

This is a very well composed shot I like however I have an opinion or perhaps more of a what I would do sort of thing on this one. (Not that I could or anything. Your still light years beyond anything I can do in this media.) I think you have to many lights being shown on the upper hull of the dock. Now I can understand that that's where the offices and living quarters are but not all of them are in use one and more over the more light saturation from the sun (Or whatever other light source.) making them less distinct especially since in this shot it appears as though Space Dock is receiving direct light from presumably the Sun. But again this is all more or less a what I would if I could do it.

I don't know why, but I always loved to play that my ship is in dock getting repaired. i especially loved to watch the ships getting repaired in any Star Trek game. Still do with ultimate universe
