The Kazdiul System was the capital of the Meuhiri Entanglement and a politically/economically significant star system located on the opposite side of the galaxy relative to the Sol System. The Kazdiul System's mainworld was Theron - homeworld of the Meuhiri species; a planet of numerous archipelagos and small landmasses. Records indicate the Meuhiri - due to a massive lack of open building space available - constructed large-scale arcologies in Theron's shallows accompanied by large jungle-intertwined-cities that sprawled out into the oceans.Kazdiul was the administrative hub of the Meuhiri Entanglement and served as an interspecies forum and trading center for their entire civilization. Two other worlds in the system - the desert planet Kaylia, and the ice giant Say'carro - were home to indigenous biospheres that evolved from ancient unicellular life that formed on Theron. These two worlds - as the first places the Meuhiri had ever discovered 'alien' life - were studied profusely by Entanglement scientists for centuries, even long after the discovery that life forms on Kaylia and Say'carro originated from panspermia.
A species psychologically aware - almost painfully so - of their species' history and a sense of longing for the world where the earliest of all Meuhiri would have been born, the Meuhiri across the multitudes of systems of the Entanglement - and years of distance - were inclined to return to their ancestral home at least once in their lives to relish in their earliest ancestors' history.
This was until two thousand years ago. The Entanglement had spread its sphere to encompass almost two hundred thousand systems, and the bureaucratic apparatus in control of the Entanglement had opted to rename its sphere of influence to the 'Universal Entanglement' - due to the high number of non-Meuhiri species, from individuals, to colonies, to whole homeworlds, now within its borders - and the weight of administrative control was beginning to be shared among a number of regional capitals beside the Kazdiul System.
In an event known simply as the 'Kazdiul Genocide', but recorded officially by the Meuhiri as 'The Ignition of Kazdiul' and by the Federation as the 'Kazdiul Catastrophe', a large, unidentified artifact - estimated by Entanglement and modern Federation scientists to have had a mass of 0.03-0.08 Earth masses - composed of numerous shifting interconnected spheres, cubes, and other less describable shapes materialized at in the outer system approximately 63 astronomical units from Kazdiul, and immediately positioned itself on a trajectory toward Kazdiul via unknown means of propulsion.
After 27 hours, the artifact made contact with Kazdiul; appearing untouched by the intense heat of the star, the vast object passed straight through Kazdiul's corona, its chromosphere, its photosphere, and beyond detection into its convection zone. After almost thirty hours, Kazdiul's luminosity began to rapidly increase over the course of two hours, causing the Kazdiul System's inhabitants to send emergency subspace transmissions to the nearest regional capitals and spaceports - calling for any and all vessels to evacuate as many citizens as possible.
This rapid increase in luminosity ended almost as quickly as it started with all of Kazdiul's mass - including its core - rapidly expanding away from the epicenter of the star in an event identical to a supernova with the significant exception of leaving no stellar remanent.
The following is a list of the bodies of the Kazdiul System based on the time at which the wave made contact and their physical reaction:
- Phul'yo, 2 minutes: swept up and completely atomized by the expanding wave of plasma and stellar material.
- Scukalarii, 5 minutes: instantly vaporized by the wave.
- Koplurk, 22 minutes: completely destroyed.
- Kaylia, 38 minutes: completely vaporized with every living thing.
- Theron, 1 hour and 20 minutes: was swept up and destroyed by the wave. Everyone and everything - every work of art and artifact - was destroyed.
- Astiora, 2 hours and 40 minutes: survived the initial wave which pushed it on a trajectory into deep space, but the intense heat of the wave initiated an unstable runaway fusion reaction on its surface - and eventually, its core - which spiraled out of control into a secondary supernova event several years later.
- Main Belt, 3 hours, 11 minutes: every object in the Main Belt was vaporized by the wave. A number of vessels were able to retreat to warp out of system in time with a total of 2,300 survivors from the belt.
- Pruhono, 5 hours and 30 minutes: was completely vaporized. 3 ore freighters in the vicinity of Pruhono's moons - by dumping their cargo - were able to save 600 individuals.
- Say'carro, 9 hours and 6 minutes: was completely destroyed with all life. Passing civilian and non-civilian vessels - as well as a number of local craft - allowed the survival of 15,500. A number of specimens of Say'carro life forms were saved in the panic, but nowhere near enough to restart the planet's biosphere on another world.
- Neskyrio, 13 hours and 42 minutes: completely vaporized. 500 survivors.
- Auturnos, 27 hours and 41 minutes: lost 30-40 percent of its mass and all of its satellites to the wave and was pushed out into interstellar space. All 4,000 of the planet's population were saved by local vessels or vessels fleeing the wave.
Out of the Kazdiul System, there were approximately 23,400 survivors and only 47 surviving space vessels. The spread-out mass of the Kazdiul System formed a small interstellar nebula called, by both the former Entanglement and the Federation, the 'Kazdiul Nebula'.
The event, in the long term, resulted in the decentralization of the Universal Entanglement from the Kazdiul System to a number of scattered regional capitals, spreading out the weight of the administration of the Entanglement, and actually allowing the Meuhiri faster rates of expansion.
The event is the first recorded encounter by the Meuhiri with a 'transapient entity' - the mysterious artifact which caused the ignition of Kazdiul. The specific entity that caused the Kazdiul System's destruction is designated 'Transapient 83E05' by Starfleet.

History Profile: Meuhiri Entanglement
The Meuhiri Entanglement, known amongst themselves as the Universal Entanglement, was a very large, upstart interstellar exo-civilization located opposite of the galactic core relative to the Sol system that spread over several million populated systems. Of the three other major civilizations besides the Federation to arise at a similar time to dominate galactic affairs, the Meuhiri Entanglement was the largest and oldest. A bureaucratic hegemony organized similar to the Federation, the basis of the Entanglement was to integrate its founding race, the meuhiri, with its innumerable client and subordinate species by developing economic and logistical dependencies upon one another to function.

Yes, but I haven't published it anywhere yet, unfortunately. I've had a bit of trouble in describing what a transapient entity is in a manner that's intelligible.
