Vikings didn't use horses on raids, they fought on foot and their longships weren't made for carrying horses. The Norsemen didn't use cavalry until they became Christian and feudalism was introduced.

This is quite stirring and impressive. My only criticism is that the shield is small and the axe is more suited to a Conan Comic..but then you are not illustrating a history book!

Hm, unwieldy double-bitted woodcutting axes. Uselessly small shields. Pretty darn good picture though, as a picture in and of itself.

this really makes me think of "The fury of the Northmen!" Coming from across the sea burning and pillaging, raping and destroying! the brightness of the sky and the flames really make the central figure pop, and the angles of the figures create tension and movement. Very nice work!

Plus the sword and the axes are not norse style, try looking for images of norse weapons next time. Otherwise Great

Love the limited, sickly palette and hazy atmosphere. A solemn, ugly battle.

I feel like the fire should be brighter and create more of a glow / reflective light around the characters (and a tiny bit more contrast- I was clicking 'next' through all of my deviantwatch art and almost skipped right past it because there wasn't a great amount of contrast and it didn't catch my eye immediately). Just throwing that out there, you probably get more "woaahhh this is amazing!"'s than critique and I always find it far more helpful when given legitimate crit. Other than that, great work!

Great energy. It makes you feel that there are a lot of things happening as it would in a real raid. It actually made my eye navigate thrugh the entire image, as if i was there and trying to figure iut what to do.
