Coloring was a real pain, but it is finished.
I am going on a short vacation to Minnesota on Saturday and coming back home on Monday. I want to see if I can do a sketch of him in some sort of scenery instead of plain old white background with a random light source. Should give me more options on shading and shadows to make him more real.
I need help from you all though. I look at a lot of others drawing's for inspiration, but I no matter how I try, I can never get good detail into my drawings.
I always feel as if they look rather bland and simple. Can anyone help me out in this area? Like sword detail, facial detail etc. Thank you!

I already have my next picture ready. Just got to scan it. I created a nicely detailed sword, but I am not sure if it will be easily seen since there will be some heavy shadows where it is in the pic. (ooo, spoiler) Oh well.

I admire your shading skills! Maybe you could put some shiny highlights on the sword.. and overall, make some of the shading alot darker, to increase the contrast of the whole thing. And yes, try a background... remember what you did with the soccer picture.. wowza! But a good compo/character should be able to stand on it's own. And I think you are really doing well!

I was very confused with what to do with the sword, such as how the light would act on it. Should have done the obvious thing and looked at photos.
With my next drawing I'll do my normal shading, and go one level farther with the contrast. I am always afraid to go "big" because something won't look right and I'd have to do the thing over again to fix it.

if you're looking for more detail in anything, use guidelines. besides that, look at some pics of real otters, and kind of just fool around with facial comparison between humans and them. so yeah, great pic though!
