Description
So, a friend at school said he wanted to be a Spartan from the movie, 300, for Halloween this year, but he didn't know what to do about the cloak.I came up with this at about 6:30 this morning, before leaving for school, but thought it might be useful. Looked at a ton of reference pictures, and I'm sure there is some fabric shaping involved to get it to lay oh-so-sexily over the shoulders, but I know my friend isn't "sewing inclined". Sorry for the uber-craptacular drawings, too, but I hope they make sense.
The measurement length is just a guide, based off of what I quickly played around with using a bath towel. The width of the fabric (the vertical part) should be whatever width the fabric comes in - either 45" or 60", generally. You may need to hem it for your height or whatnot.
I have no idea if this will actually work, but it's just my idea on paper. It seemed sound, though
Hope it helps someone with a really quick Halloween costume!

This one definitely doesn't require any sewing to do, which is how I kinda came up with it - you can do it with just the safety pin in the middle
The friend I drafted this for doesn't have any sewing skills, either

It is one of the most beautiful experiences that i have ever had. I especially love going to sleep to the sound of dozens of drums... it makes you want to cry.

Cool! That's awesome. I'm trying to make a dress like Kiki's, but I have no idea where to start. I'll figure it out, I guess.

Oh! That one isn't bad, and great for a beginning sew-er (seamstress? ya get the idea )
Do you have a pattern already, or are you still looking for something to start off of?

I'm still looking. I can't seem to find anything, and I'm afraid to make my own, for fear of screwing it up completely and having to buy more fabric.

Ya know, if I have time this weekend and wanna play with patterns, I'll try to draft one out, or at least get a compotent walk thru on how to make it - its not too bad, since theres so little shaping to it (it's basically a shift dress, but I couldn't for the life of me find a pattern for one I thought they were pretty common XP)

Really? That would be amazing, but don't pressure yourself. I don't want to distract you from any real work that you have to do, but I'd love a pattern if you have time.
