I'll wind up in some kind
of eternal torture.

if I don't do what they say
and read a certain book
or act a certain way
or speak only certain words
or learn only certain things
it's a harm to my life
and whatever happens after it.

Apparently
there is something in the sky
that no one can explain
or observe
or recognize
or quantify
that is so mysterious that
it must be better than us.

Apparently
we don't do anything ourselves
and our progress is owed to
something invisible
something unnatural
something perceived
to be superior
through our own definition.

And apparently
I'm supposed to
submit
worship
yield
to it.

Because apparently
a simple book
a few mystics
a bunch of outcasts and
an invisible something
can tell me how to live
my life.
