The Ancient Ones are a race of creatures that pre-date known history. They claim that when the Earth was created, they arrived, alongside their arch enemies. The Earth was a dark planet, and thus the Ancient Ones could thrive and fight against their foe. After the birth of Nennoxhi, the planet was enshrouded in darkness, and the Ancient Ones eradicated their arch enemies. After this, they went deep into the Earth, and began hibernation. It was during the time of the dinosaurs that they rose again. Lead by Nennoxhi, the Ancient Ones wiped out the dinosaurs, and covered the world in darkness once again. It was at this time that the Vampires arose from their darkened caverns and began to spread across the Earth. Unfortunately for them, the Ancient Ones were still awake. Now, with another intelligent species, and one much weaker than themselves, the Ancient Ones swarmed down upon the Vampires, and enslaved them. They used the Vampires for various things, but most prominently, forced them to dig massive pits, for unknown purposes. This reign of terror went unapposed, until the Vampires discovered the ancient relics and tomes of the Ancient One's enemies. Using the magic granted by said artifacts, the Vampires rose against their oppressors, but were quickly put down. It wasn't until the Vampires found a Sealing Ground, and lured the Ancient Ones to said grounds, that they managed to overthrow their oppressors, encasing them in stone through the light of the Sun. For millions of years, the Ancient Ones have stayed, sealed within this long lost cavern. But now, a traitor Vampire has found their location, and wishes to free them. And he has found his chance.

Nitmhet is considered the most intelligent of all the Ancient Ones. Nitmhet prefers not to enter battle himself, despite his large size (over 80 feet long) and potential combat ability. Instead, Nitmhet stays in whatever base the Ancient Ones use, and makes plans for others to act out, as well as sitting back and plotting for his own purposes. Like most of the other Ancient Ones, Nitmhet has his own ideas on how things should be done, and constantly sends out soldiers with orders that contradict those of his companions, which often complicates things to an unecessary degree, forcing his allies to change to his plans simply to accomplish any goals at all. And while Nitmhet may scheme against Nennoxhi and the others, he is still loyal to them, and would not dare incur their wrath. After his re-awakening, Nitmhet conforms to his old ways, and ekes out an area of the cavern as his own, where he continues plotting and planning.
