Hehe, I looked at this and looked at the background and said to myself... hey that's REALLY familiar. Isn't that the lodberries of Lerwick with the Galley in the harbour.... I was delighted to read the description. Have you been up to Shetland recently? Lerwick's my hometown.

Well spotted. I was up there last year and really liked the place. My ex-girlfriend's family is from Shetland. I was staying in Lerwick with her uncle, Jim Tait, an artist who paints in oils, mainly seascapes and boats etc. Took the background picture on one of our many walks to the pub. Liked the way it's just so timeless, so long as no modern boats pass by when you're trying to take the picture.

I know of Jim Tait (everyone knows everyone up here), he's quite adept with the ol' brush. If you're ever going to make a return trip let me know, I can advise some superbe locations for photography (mainly scenic & wildlife). I'm glad you enjoyed your time up here
