This is a particularly interesting piece of work that is near-mesmerising. The dark tones suit the piece perfectly, I think: great stuff overall.

How does one reverse a lens?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

StephanePellennec In reply to kierrathorn [2008-01-30 12:51:24 +0000 UTC]

I just put of the lens and put in upside down in front of my camera. There's some support ring existing, but I don't have any yet.
I keep the lens with my hand, there's no more autofocus, no more light control, no more aperture control (f is wild opened) so I need to mesure the light and adjust the speed before hand.
Then I keep my breath and adjust the focus by moving the camera (in one hand) + lens (in the other hand), toward or backward. The DoF is really narrow so I don't move quickly and I shoot many times, check the camera's histogram, adjust, shoot again...
All my macro pictures are made this way.

Oh wow!! Thanks for that info, sounds like some fun, i might have to give it a stab, I doubt that my attempts would be anywhere as good as yours.

StephanePellennec In reply to kierrathorn [2008-01-31 06:12:22 +0000 UTC]

It's fun
But be careful to dusty, sandy, wet... air conditions as the body of the camera is opened
