Totally agree. So far it seems very akin to Fire Walk With Me rather than the original series in that the mood is far darker and the small town humor is at a minimum. I remember there were entire episodes that would have me in giggles in the first two seasons but the third season is appropriately dark and it appears that Lynch's idea of horror has grown as well. He's updated it, as it were, and whereas his horror was never not scary, he's only improved. I'm so glad it's back and I'm so glad he and Frost have the budget and creative freedom they need, like you said. I wasn't quite aware of the void in my life until it was recently filled.
