APPEARANCE:
Much like everyone else in Caeleste, Vanthuyne is his own kind of uniqueness. Where some have loud splashes of color and others have the bare minimum for markings, Van has convinced himself he is a happy medium. While standing at a rough guess of 17.1 hands high, the average built stallion is ninety percent covered in gainsboro gray hair. His face looks like a sugar skull mask was super glued to it. One of the darker shades of black make up for the base, while intricate white and orange designs line his cheeks and eyes. His nose is filled in with a tangerine orange shade to represent the muzzle bone on the equine. On the very tip is a small patch of white in the shape of a bubbled T. His lips look like they've been stitched, but that's how his masked face is.

Venturing down his body, a large chunk of his neck is striped with shades of blacks and oranges that wrap right around and into his mane. Between the two colors, there are nine stripes in total. Along have of his neck, over his shoulders, and the majority of his back, Vanthuyne has a large splash of tangerine orange. It sprinkles down the sides of his body a little bit, cutting off at the base of his neck. Along his barrel and rump are darker shades of orange that are simple spots that go down his hind legs as well.

All four of his legs are covered in the same tangerine orange, but are joined with black socks that sprinkle upwards towards his knees. Van's hooves are a bright orange with pearl white stripes on them. His mane and tail have several different shades of orange and white, while his mane has some black in it. Finally, Vanthuyne's eyes are a striking tiger orange that, with the right look, can make him look intimidating.

PERSONALITY:
The easiest, quickest way to describe Vanthuyne is that he's an alpha male.

He always has been, even from a very young age. With that being said, he doesn't abuse his power. He would much rather hear everyone's opinions and deal with it rationally than forcing everyone do to things his way. Van will put someone in their place if push comes to shove, though. He won't tolerate for needless bickering and will put his foot down to stop it, leaving him the dominant one in a situation.

Van isn't out to be friends with everyone. When he was a yearling, he learned the hard way that not everyone will be your friend. In some ways, it left him silently traumatized but he will deny it all. Shame and guilt linger deep with that mental scar, leaving him hesitant around abusive horses. He's quick to comfort someone who was abused or is in an abusive relationship and tries his hardest to guide them in the right path to a better life.

He doesn't look the part, but Vanthuyne can be a sweetheart. He enjoys the physical touch of women, romantically or gentling. When it comes to the men, he would prefer no contact, but won't chase someone off if they do. He wants to treat everyone with equal rights, but some things will make him stay on his side of the line. He respects the word 'no' and expects others to do the same if he were to ever use it.

Lastly, Vanthuyne is a hard working man. He sets his mind to do something and will work his butt off to get the job done. He has always had one goal in mind and that's to find a home and a band. He longs for a family, being the family man that he is, but loneliness can slowly take over ones mind. To say that's not starting would be a lie. It's a slow crawl, but his mind is slipping into hopelessness of ever finding a family.

HISTORY:
Vanthuyne will tell everyone that he was conceived in a test tube and that he was an experiment for the simple curiosity humans had presented towards helpless animals. Where he's not lying on some parts, being created out of curiosity is a lie. Back when he was created, along with a hundred other freak show horses, humans had been in search of a cure for all types of diseases. The same animal testing had occurred, but instead of using rodents the two-legged beasts ventured to larger animals. Cows, sheep, horses, and various other farm animals were all injected with different diseases. Two of these creatures were Van's sire and dam.

While his sire, Subject 105, was injected with a cancerous disease, his dam was injected with chicken pox. They had then taken an egg from the unidentified mare and a sperm cell from Subject 105 and soon created an embryo. When the humans had been satisfied that the child would live, they planted the embryo back into Vanthuyne's dam. Fourteen months later, two months longer than a normal gestation, the little orange, grey, and black colt was born. The scientists called him Attempt 75.

Van grew at a rapid pace, causing joint pains and muscle spasms. The humans were constantly taking his blood, injecting him with weird vaccines and diseases, writing on boards, and checking his vitals. Sometimes it would be anywhere up to ten times a day he would be checked. Being the seventy-fifth attempt for something put a lot of pressure on his shoulders to try and do well. At a young age, Vanthuyne was trying to impress the two-legged beings so they wouldn't do anything harmful to him like they had others.

It wasn't long, maybe a year and a half, before the multi-colored colt looked almost three. It was around this time that his aging came to a rapid halt. Everyone knew he wasn't very old, but basic equine knowledge said otherwise. This is when his stallion mindset began kicking in. He would lash out, assert dominance, and even free himself from his stall. He had a mission to make the humans lives miserable for no apparent reason. Hell, he had even come close to killing one of his pasture mates simply because he had been pissed off.

With this sudden act of aggression, the humans soon had Vanthuyne in quarantine. They doubled on the blood tests and vitals; trying to find anything that would explain why he was acting the way he was. After several days, the scientists confirmed it was just basic equine behavior. They debated gelding him, but decided against it and let him back out into the pasture. Again, another horse was almost killed, causing Vanthuyne to be quarantined once more. He was quarantined for a year before he started showing signs of calmness. He was introduced to a mare and gelding, which he befriended and made sure they knew their place in the pecking order.

Within the same year, the lab had been forced into lock down. A virus had escaped from the bovine section and the humans were forced to evacuate the premises. Being in the middle of nowhere, the disease ridden animals were no serious threat to mankind, but the humans took extra precautions. After two days of being human free, the lab blew up. Not many animals survived; a few cattle, sheep, and horses, Vanthuyne being one of them. All of the animals went their separate ways, some with hopes of finding humans to be put out of their misery, but Vanthuyne had other plans. He set out to explore the world, see things from a new life. He left his burning lab behind him and set out to his new life.
