Description
This one scene is at the top of every Disney saddest moments list. And now, I'm going to shock the world....(drum roll)....
I don't think Mufasa's death is the saddest ever Disney scene! Dun dun dun!!!
Don't get me wrong, the prospect of a father dying to save his son is sad, but for me personally, I don't tear up at all for this scene.
(prepares for angry mob of LK fans)Β

Rip childhoodΒ
What do you think was the saddest moment in a Disney film then?

For me, it's when the Beast dies in Beauty and the Beast. She's just laying over him. 'I love you...'
Someone's cutting onions in here!

This scene made me tear up a little but then I got over it.
Tbh the only movie scene I can think of that made me cry was when the black cat in Hocus Pocus died. I've ALWAYS been a cat lover and I remeber crying so hard when I saw that scene XD I had to have been like 3 years old.

I think maybe if I was a cat lover, I might have reacted differently? I don't know XD
Oh God, I haven't seen that film in forever x-x
I remember when I first saw the cat get run over and I just stared at the screen like .-. That was unexpected!

Yes! It's a really good werewolf movie too.

yeah, they built that scene up pretty darn good, which is why it hits so hard, kinda like the death of Bambi's mom

Don't get me wrong, it's sad, but I would't call it the saddest scene in Disney.

wlewis92 In reply to SpellboundEnigma [2015-05-15 17:27:37 +0000 UTC]
same here, just saying they built it up pretty good and made the scene even more affective than it would've been had they just played on the natural sadness that would come with losing a parent

Yes. I mean to actually SHOW the body afterwards adds to the image that Mufasa is dead.

Would you rate it as the saddest ever Disney scene?
π: 0 β©: 1
wlewis92 In reply to SpellboundEnigma [2015-05-16 12:24:18 +0000 UTC]
nah, the Bambi dead mom scene jacked up far more kids XD
but calling either of those the saddest feels like I might be ignoring other Disney movies, so I can't really say what's the saddest didney moment o3o

Disney has had it's fair share of sad scenes so I think you're right. It's very hard to pinpoint just one.
For me personally, it's Beauty & The Beast.

yeah, but if I had to pick, I guess the Bambi scene got me more as a kid than the lion King, but that's just so far
why beauty and the beast?

You know that scene where the Beast dies and Belle's huddled on his chest? And she tells him she loves him? ;-;
Every single time, that gets me.

this scene gets to me literally every time I try so hard not to cry. out of every damn disney movie this one gets to me that and the ending of beauty and the beast where you think hes dead but comes back.

It only made me cry because I'm the kid of person that cries when I see other people cry. Β I'm very empathetic to the point where it can be annoying. Β I can see sad scenes all day long, but soon as someone starts bawling that's it for me. Β Titanic was one example...none of it bothered me until the little girls next to me started sobbing about Jack Β Then I started to cry so yeah XD

I don't recall tearing up during this scene at all, either. That's not to say that I wasn't sad while watching it, I just never full-on cried while seeing it. (Same thing with Bambi's mom.) I know, I know, I'm heartless...

The only Disney scene that always gets me is in Beauty & The Beast where she's lying over Beast's body. 'I love you...'
That always gets me

Dying to protect someone you love is a good way to die.

lizardsabana In reply to SpellboundEnigma [2015-05-14 20:54:03 +0000 UTC]
Not necassarily.they can still die, sometimes in the most horrible of ways.but a lot of the characters, like the lemrali can live for a very long time.my main characters however are semi-immortal.
π: 0 β©: 1
SpellboundEnigma In reply to lizardsabana [2015-05-14 21:09:02 +0000 UTC]
I understand, but usually, something that is immortal can't die to begin with. That's why I'm a bit puzzled.
Do you mean eternal? An eternal thing can live forever unless it's killed.
π: 0 β©: 1
lizardsabana In reply to SpellboundEnigma [2015-05-14 21:47:37 +0000 UTC]
Kind of.
See the people in my story all begin as mortals.then zzy discovers that she's the child of a goddess and an angel, and thus she'll turn fully immortal once she turns 25,it's around this time that zzy's mate starts to worry.but since she mated with her nyla is now half immortal.the only real immortal ones in the story are zzy's parents and jakrocker17's characters.
