90% of this work is fractals alone. The other 10 percent is just various layers with large soft brushings to control the colors/light. This is a combination of the flame fractal generator built into GIMP and Apophysis fractals. I figured out something really cool, if you have two triangles that have nothing but a value of 1 for spherical, and arrange them a certain way, you can get these fluffy cloud looking fractals, which really came in handy for this piece.

I took a different approach to the composition of this, in that the brightest part of the nebula is not visible. I just feel like this makes the nebula feel more massive and brilliant.
